‎The Liberia Diplomatic Club welcomes the recent sanitation enforcement measures announced by the Monrovia City Corporation aimed at addressing illegal garbage dumping across Monrovia.
‎
‎The move comes at a time when conversations around environmental responsibility, plastic pollution, and sustainable waste management are becoming increasingly important in Liberia.
‎
‎In a recent opinion article published by the titled: “Liberia’s Plastic Crisis Is Becoming a National Concern: Why Youth and Communities Must Lead the Response,” written by the Club’s Executive Director, Nyema M. Merriam, a founder and development communications practitioner, three key solutions were proposed:
‎
‎• Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR); policies that hold producers and importers responsible for plastic waste;
‎
‎• Low-cost household waste separation support systems;
‎
‎• Stronger partnerships with recycling companies and community-based recycling initiatives.
‎
‎As a youth diplomacy and civic leadership organization, we believe Liberia must continue moving beyond dialogue toward practical, community-driven environmental solutions.

The Liberia Diplomatic Club proudly celebrates the birthday of our dear Executive Director, Nyema M. ‎During the Liberia Diplomatic Club's courtesy visit to the Guinea Embassy in Monrovia, youth diplomats learned a remarkable story about Liberia’s current President, H.E. Joseph Nyuma Boakai (then Vice President of Liberia), who once held a high-level meeting with the late Hon. Claude Kory Kondiano (then President of Guinea’s National Assembly).
‎
‎Hon. Kondiano could not speak fluent English, and Hon. Boakai could not speak fluent French. With only the two of them in the room, they communicated fluently in Kissi, a local language shared across Liberia and Guinea.
‎
‎A powerful reminder that in , our shared cultures and indigenous languages remain strong bridges for diplomacy, unity, and peace.
