Post-Training Update: Strengthening Liberia’s Path to Justice

We are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of our intensive training workshop held in Zwedru from April 7–8! The training focused on Strengthening the Capacity of CSOs and Victims’ Groups to engage with Liberia’s transitional justice process. We brought together dedicated participants from Grand Gedeh, Maryland, Grand Kru, and River Gee to sharpen our collective effort to ensure that the on-going transitional justice process is victim-centered and grounded in grassroots mobilization, advocacy and local ownership, both of which are critical to building legitimacy and public trust. Participants focused on advocacy, human rights, and strategies to support establishing the War and Economic Crimes Court and Anti-Corruption Court.

From pre-training assessments to final strategy sessions, the commitment to a more just Liberia was clear.

A huge thank you to our partners, the OHCHR and the European Union, for the collaboration and for making this engagement possible.

On February 19, 2026, the Executive Director Sarnyenneh Dickson, had the honor of serving as a panelist at the ongoing Ombudsman Conference and Stakeholder Workshop at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Liberia!
The session explored practical ways civil society organizations can support and strengthen the work of the Office of the Ombudsman. He highlighted the vital role civil society plays across Liberia through partnerships, collaboration, and monitoring to promote accountability, raise public awareness of the complaint mechanism, help citizens file complaints, and foster constructive engagement between the office and communities.
It was a rich discussion sharing the stage with representatives from other civil society groups, the Press Union-of Liberia and the University of Liberia Louis Arthur Grimes School of LawThe exchange was insightful and inspiring, with everyone showing a strong shared commitment to institutional integrity, ethical governance, and deeper collaboration.
Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important work! 🇱🇷
