Today, We Commemorated World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025 under the global theme:
“Together for a ” and with a national focus : "Period-Friendly Schools. It is our hope that authorities will put this national focus into actions.

Today in the city of Sanniquellie, we brought together 60 students ( 20 males and 40 female) from four high schools for this celebration. Inaddition, we had in attendance Health Science teachers from the four schools, and some parents.

The day was more than just a celebration, it was a space to create more awareness on menstrual Hygiene and a platform for our young women showcased what they have learned about menstrual hygiene through Poems.

Today's session or celebration was unlike what we have had since 2019; it was inspiring for to have young girls provide accurate information on menstruation, menstrual hygiene to their peers through Poems. It was an inspiring and motivating as some of them encouraged their peers to embrace their periods and treat it with dignity.

Our gender coordinator included the male counterparts of the young ladies because we are mentoring them to be supportive and informed about their bodies and the girl's. It was exciting that male students also participated in the Poems competition. We didn't pick any students, but asked for volunteers who would want to participate in the competition, so it's inspiring and motivating for our young men to have shown up. Menstrual is indeed everybody's business.

As a means of support, we distributed menstrual hygiene kits to the female participants, reaffirming the essence of using a clean reusable or disposable sanitary pads and changing the pad at every four hour.

As always, thanks to our team of volunteers in Sanniqullie and our staff who traveled from Monrovia to make sure this platform was provided. Thanks to the sustainable youth for development of Sanniqullie, thanks to the school administrations for working with us on this. Thanks to the parents who came out to listen to their children. Thanks to the students for showing up and congratulations to the winners of the opem competition. Our distinguished judges from the Nimba University debate team, thank you so kindly for helping to make the competition aspect fun and successful.

To the vice president of the republic of Liberia, honorable Jeremiah Kpan Koung Sr. thanks for sponsoring the activity.

The United Nations( H6) joined mission 2023 has concluded its visit to in Liberia on May 3, 2024. The Mission revealed that 1,100 women and 8,510 newborns die annually during childbirth in Liberia.

Hence, we take this seriously, because these are real human beings dying and not just numbers.

In order to effectively contribute to the fight to reduce these figures, ( maternal and neonatal mortality), we'll over the next six months work with the Nimba County Health Teams, particularly the RMNCHA teams and the maternal death review committe, and staff; providing technical support and on site trainings.

After many online discussions with the team, we held our first in person meeting yesterday where progress and gaps were identified in this regard. We also arrived at schedule for the implementation which starts late June 2025.

Thanks to the vice president of Liberia for underwriting the cost of this project.

Vaccines save lives!

An unvaccinated child is at higher risk of catching measles and losing the chance of a healthy life. Measles is a highly contagious disease that spreads easily when an infected person breathes, coughs or sneezes.

Make sure your child’s measles vaccination is up to date.
