NASCOL Congratulates Participant Schools in its National Enhancement Classes as they successfully passed the West African Senior Secondary Examination Certificate (WASSCE) 2025/2026 and appreciates its Partner — the Saving Children Across Nations (SCAN) for Supporting the Initiative Financially

The National Students Command of Liberia (NASCOL) extends its heartfelt congratulations to all students and schools that participated in its National Enhancement Classes and have successfully passed the West African Senior Secondary Examination Certificate (WASSCE) for Academic Year 2025/2026.

This success is a testament to hard work, discipline, and the power of collective investment in education. NASCOL is particularly proud of the students who remained committed throughout the intensive tutoring period and have now made themselves, their families, and their schools proud.

NASCOL wishes to express its profound gratitude and appreciation to its partner, Scan C Johnson cooperation and commitment to impacting the lives of Liberian students cannot be overstated. As a partner that believes in education as a tool for national transformation, SCAN stood with NASCOL to ensure that students who would have otherwise been left behind received the quality academic support they deserved.

During the last academic year, NASCOL, with funding from SCAN, successfully implemented the National Enhancement Classes in two counties, targeting both 9th Graders (WAEC) and 12th Graders (WASSCE). This intervention was timely and critical.

The National Enhancement Classes were conceived in response to a persistent challenge in our educational system. Many Liberian students find themselves in a state of dilemma and anxiety before WAEC/WASSCE because the WAEC syllabus is slightly different from our national curriculum. This gap often leaves students confused, underprepared, and lacking confidence despite completing the regular school year.

To bridge this gap, NASCOL designed this program to bring together quality, experienced, and qualified teachers who are very familiar with WAEC materials, testing patterns, and marking schemes. These tutors were deployed to provide intensive, syllabus-focused tutoring, past questions drill, and mentorship to participating students. The program helped greatly to brighten students' understanding of key topics, strengthen their confidence, demystify the examination process, and foster overwhelming knowledge retention, which contributed significantly to their collective success in the exams.

The results we celebrate today prove that when we invest in targeted academic support, Liberian students can compete and excel.

NASCOL reaffirms its commitment to continue championing initiatives that enhance academic excellence and student welfare across Liberia.

The National Students Command of Liberia (NASCOL) extends its heartfelt appreciation to all contributors, partners, volunteers, supporters, and the entire membership of NASCOL for the successful implementation of our Back to School Aid Donation held today at Calvary Mission Orphanage, Sis Iye Children Orphanage, and God Success Children Orphanage on August 28, 2026.

This initiative was more than a donation—it was a demonstration of love, compassion, solidarity, and commitment to the future of Liberia’s children. Through the collective efforts of our contributors and members, we were able to put smiles on the faces of children and remind them that they are not forgotten.

The National Students Command Of Liberia (NASCOL) in Collaboration with the West West African Examination Council (WAEC-LIBERIA) Launches Two-Day Teacher Refresher Workshop under the theme: “Teaching with Purpose: Building Competent Teachers for a Brighter Future”

The National Students Command of Liberia (NASCOL), in strategic collaboration with The West African Examinations Council (WAEC-LIB), is proud to announce a Two-Day Teacher Refresher Workshop aimed at strengthening the capacity of educators across Liberia and directly addressing the academic gaps affecting our students’ performance in the regional exams.

Under the theme “Teaching with Purpose: Building Competent Teachers for a Brighter Future,” this workshop is not just another training. It is a national call to action. It is a deliberate investment in the men and women who shape minds, mold characters, and build the foundation of our nation.

NASCOL sees this initiative as important now because of the challenges our students face during the regional examination. Across our high schools, we see brilliant students struggling not because they lack potential, but because the tools, methods, and support systems for their teachers have not kept pace with the demands of modern education and the standards of WASSCE — upon this backdrop, we have decided to partner with the Head Office of WAEC-LIB to carry out a strategic research and training program in order to keep high school teachers abreast with the curriculum of WAEC.

NASCOL believes that if we fill the gaps in the classroom, we fill the gaps in the nation.
This is why we are using different approaches to fill the gaps — by equipping teachers with practical, result-driven skills that translate immediately into improved student performance, discipline, and confidence during the regional examination.

When teachers are competent, students excel. When students excel, Liberia rises.

WHAT PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS AND TEACHERS WILL GAIN
This intensive, practical workshop will be held on September 3 – 4, 2026 (Friday & Saturday) from 10:00AM to 1:00PM each day at the Barnersville Housing Estate.

Every registered teacher will receive hands-on, practical knowledge in 4 critical areas:
Classroom Management – Learn proven strategies to create disciplined, engaging, and productive learning environments where students thrive.

Lesson Planning – Master how to design clear, objective-driven lessons that meet curriculum goals and capture student attention.
Guidance and Counseling and Teaching Ethics – Develop skills to mentor, motivate, and support students academically and emotionally.

Testing and Evaluation – Gain direct insight into WASSCE standards and answer keys. Understand exactly how WAEC sets, marks, and grades exams so you can better prepare your students to pass and excel.

NASCOL LAUNCHES “BACK TO SCHOOL AID” CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN IN LIBERIA

The National Students Command of Liberia (NASCOL) is proud to announce the launch of “NASCOL’s Back To School Aid” — a student-led humanitarian initiative aimed at putting the needs of underprivileged children at the center of our education system.

On September 3, 2026, NASCOL will distribute essential learning materials including school books, notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, school bags, and other educational supplies to children in kindergarten and elementary schools across orphanage schools in Montserrado County, Republic of Liberia.

This initiative is guided by the theme: “No child should lack what it takes to learn.” It is rooted in NASCOL’s founding principles of Equality, Justice, and Education for All. We strongly believe that no child should be left behind in the classroom simply because they lack basic school materials.

This is more than charity — it is a commitment, NASCOL stated. “We are taking a student-centered approach to fill the gap. Every donation received will go directly to the children who need it most. Their dignity, learning experience, and future remain our paramount priority.

As Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” In that spirit, NASCOL calls on all well-meaning Liberians, institutions, and partners to join this national effort.

NASCOL RESPONSE TO THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION "FREE REGISTRATION" ANNOUNCEMENT

The National Students Command of Liberia (NASCOL) unequivocally and unambiguously critiques the Ministry of Education's latest pronouncement on "free registration" as nothing more than a carefully packaged political shenanigan designed to score public relations points instead of addressing the structural collapse of Liberia's public education system.

Liberians must not be deceived. This is not a new policy. Successive governments have spoken about reducing barriers to education, yet the public school system continues to deteriorate while those in power celebrate symbolic announcements.

What value is free registration when countless government schools remain in deplorable conditions?

What victory is there to celebrate when children are expected to learn in overcrowded classrooms, dilapidated buildings, and unenabling environments that rob them of dignity and quality education?

What kind of educational revolution is this when teachers—the backbone of every education system—continue to receive inadequate salaries, while thousands of volunteer teachers carry the burden of educating the nation's children without being placed on government payroll for years?

A government that exploits volunteer teachers while preaching educational reform is engaged in political theater, not nation-building.

The Ministry must also answer a painful question: Why do so many parents still refuse to entrust their kindergarten children to public schools? The answer is simple. Confidence in the public education system has been eroded by years of neglect, poor infrastructure, weak supervision, and declining standards.

NASCOL maintains that this administration is not demonstrating the seriousness required to transform education in Liberia. You cannot build a world-class education system with press statements while schools crumble, teachers struggle, and students are left reckless abandoned!

The Government must abandon propaganda and embrace genuine reform. The priority should be paying teachers salaries that reflect their indispensable service to the nation; immediately absorbing qualified volunteer teachers onto the government payroll; rehabilitating and modernizing public school facilities across Liberia; providing adequate instructional materials; and establishing a rigorous monitoring and evaluation system that guarantees teachers are teaching and students are learning.
Liberia does not need another publicity campaign.

Liberia needs classrooms that inspire learning, teachers who are respected, and schools that parents can proudly choose for their children.

NASCOL will continue to expose cosmetic reforms that ignore the root causes of the educational crisis. We will remain steadfast in demanding policies that transform—not policies that merely generate headlines.

The struggle for quality education continues. The students of Liberia will not be silenced. We demand action!
