Last week, we had the opportunity to meet with the Embassy of Sweden in Liberia, creating space for our student intern, Ruth, to learn firsthand about their work advancing gender equality.

With a strong interest in women’s rights and SRHR, Ruth was especially curious about the role of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and how their efforts align with the mission of S4S Liberia.

We’re grateful to Dwede Tarpeh, Program Officer for Gender and SRHR, for taking the time to share insights and engage in such a meaningful exchange.

We’re excited to welcome our student intern from Sweden, who will be spending the next two weeks with us at Sisters 4 Sisters (Liberia).

Ruth Jiménez Edgren is a 15-year-old student from Adolf Fredrik’s Music School in Sweden and a passionate dancer. She was recently part of a performance commemorating International Women’s Day.

During her time with us, Ruth will be learning about our work in advancing women’s economic empowerment and promoting women’s health. As she explores Liberia, she also brings her perspective on the experiences of women and marginalized communities in a different context.

Welcome to Liberia Ruth, and we are happy to have you with us 💜

As we begin the 16 Days of Activism, we at S4S (Liberia) have been deeply engaged with this year’s global theme, UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls, just as we have over the years through trainings on digital safety, and personal and organizational security across the women’s and feminist movement here in Liberia.

We want to restate and strengthen our commitment to ending all forms of digital violence, including cyberbullying, doxing, hate speech, and other online harms facing women, girls, and marginalized groups.

Today, our Executive Director and M&E Officer proudly represented Sisters 4 Sisters at the Business and Human Rights High-Level Dialogue hosted in Monrovia by the OHCHR.

This important gathering brought together national leaders, ministries, and key stakeholders to discuss the National Action Plan on Business & Human Rights, the UN Guiding Principles, and inclusive strategies for responsible business conduct in Liberia.

We remain committed to ensuring that women, girls, and marginalized communities are meaningfully included in national conversations that shape policy, protection, and accountability.

This World Diabetes Day, S4S Liberia stands strong for women, girls, and other marginalized groups across Liberia because diabetes isn’t just about blood sugar, it’s about overall well-being at every stage of life, including the workplace.
Together, we raise awareness, promote early screening, and build communities where everyone has the knowledge, care, and support to thrive. 💙
