Today, the Hope Rising Heart Initiative (HRHI) proudly presented Certificates of Appreciation to our dedicated facilitators and keynote speaker from the National Emerging Public Health Students Conference 2025 — in recognition of their invaluable contributions to empowering the next generation of public health professionals in Liberia.

Earlier in July 2025, we successfully hosted the first-ever National Conference for Emerging Public Health Students, bringing together nearly 100 public health students from various higher learning institutions alongside seasoned public health professionals and national stakeholders. The event served as a platform to promote knowledge sharing, skill development, mentorship, and collaboration between emerging and experienced professionals.

Our facilitators played an instrumental role in making this vision a reality — generously sharing their expertise, experiences, and insights with our participants. Their impact was deeply felt throughout the conference.

Upon receiving their certificates, each facilitator expressed excitement and appreciation, and most importantly, renewed their commitment to continue working with HRHI to make the next edition of the conference even greater.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to this milestone in advancing public health leadership and education in Liberia. Together, we are building a stronger, healthier future for all.

Capacity Building Success!

Last week, three of our staff successfully completed a week-long Capacity Building Training in Project Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, Financial Management, Gender Transformative Strategies, Safeguarding, and Institutional Leadership & Governance.

The training, held in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, was organized by ActionAid Liberia with support from Plan International as part of an institutional capacity-building project funded by the Global Fund. The initiative brought together 30 carefully selected CSOs and CBOs from across the country.

We are honored to have participated and are excited to apply the knowledge and skills gained to strengthen our interventions and impact within the communities we serve.

A heartfelt thank you to ActionAid Liberia and Plan International for this valuable opportunity to grow and learn!

Over the weekend on Saturday, our Country Director, Lawrence J. W Sergbou was honored to serve as a panelist at the one-day workshop hosted by Golden Waste Solutions Enterprise Inc. under the theme:
“Fashioning a Cleaner City: Together for a Greener Future.”

The panel sparked meaningful discussions on how sanitation links to public health, the environment, and community leadership.

Many thanks to Golden Waste Solutions Enterprise for organizing such an event especially at this critical time where improper waste disposal and poor sanitation are major issues in our communities.

We look forward to partnering for a liveliable community.

We Stand Tall Against Drug Abuse

Today, we proudly joined voices across Liberia in the National “Say No to Drugs” Campaign!

From classrooms to communities, HRHI is on the frontlines—defending the future of our youth, promoting education, and championing health.

We marched.
We spoke out.
We stood firm.

Because every child deserves a drug-free future.
Because silence is not an option.
Because Liberia must rise—stronger, safer, and drug-free.

Together, we say it loud:
NO TO DRUGS. YES TO LIFE!

Hope Rising Heart Initiative (HRHI) Joins the National “Say No to Drugs” Campaign

As institution dedicated to improving health, education, and overall well-being among youth, school-going children, and underserved communities across Liberia, we proudly join the National Campaign against Drug Abuse.

Drug abuse is not just a personal choice—it is a public health crisis, a community emergency, and a national tragedy. It is dismantling the future of our young people, eroding the gains of development, and widening the gap in health, education, and opportunity—especially among Liberia’s most vulnerable populations.

As an organization that walks daily with children in classrooms, youth in slum communities, and families in forgotten corners of Liberia, we cannot be silent. We see the danger. We feel the urgency. We rise with purpose.

Why We Say NO to Drugs

âś…Because every child deserves to grow in a safe and drug-free environment.

✅Because addiction is a disease that requires compassion, intervention, and prevention—not stigma.

✅Because the cost of inaction is too high—lost lives, shattered dreams, and broken communities.

âś…Because good health and quality education are not possible in the grip of addiction.

We believe in a Liberia where children can learn, youth can lead, and communities can thrive—free from the chains of drug abuse.

This fight is about public health, social justice, and national survival. Drug abuse must be addressed not only through law enforcement, but through education, awareness, rehabilitation, mental health care, and economic inclusion.

Together, we rise. Together, we act. Together, we say: NO TO DRUGS

The National Emerging Public Health Students Conference Workshop Spotlight:

At the National Emerging Public Health Students Conference 2025, we were privileged to engage with Dr. Saybah Manyango, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Coordinator at the Ministry of Health, Liberia.

Her vital workshop, titled “Antimicrobial Resistance in Liberia: A Growing Public Health Threat,” addressed one of the most dangerous and underrecognized health threats of our time.

Dr. Manyango led an eye-opening discussion on:

-The science and scope of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)
-Rational use of antibiotics in health care and communities
-Liberia’s efforts in AMR surveillance and response
-Infection prevention and control strategies
-The crucial roles of healthcare workers, pharmacists, and the public
-Youth as advocates for responsible antibiotic use and hygiene practices

Her session empowered students with the urgency and tools to safeguard the effectiveness of life-saving antibiotics and combat the silent pandemic of resistance.

Thank you, Dr. Manyango, for your leadership and for equipping the next generation to stand at the frontline of AMR prevention in Liberia!
