PUBLICATION ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND SCAM-RELATED ACTIVITIES IN WEST AFRICA
Human trafficking and scam-related activities continue to pose serious threats to the safety, dignity, and future of many citizens across West Africa. Vulnerable individuals—especially women and children—are increasingly being deceived, exploited, and trafficked through organized criminal networks operating both locally and internationally.
Traffickers often use false promises of employment, education, and better living conditions to lure victims into dangerous situations, where they are subjected to forced labor, sexual exploitation, and other forms of abuse. At the same time, scam-related activities are on the rise, targeting unsuspecting citizens through fraudulent schemes that result in financial loss and emotional distress.
In response to these growing challenges, the Liberia Anti-Trafficking Scam and Victim Support Initiative remains fully committed to combating these crimes and protecting vulnerable populations.
Our Approach
Our work is guided by four key pillars:
▪︎Prevention – Raising awareness through community outreach, media engagement, and public education to help people recognize and avoid trafficking and scams
▪︎Protection – Supporting victims through rescue efforts, counseling, and reintegration programs
▪︎Prosecution – Advocating for justice and working with authorities to ensure perpetrators are held accountable
▪︎Partnership – Collaborating with government agencies, international organizations, civil society, and the media
Our Commitment
We are dedicated to strengthening national and regional efforts to eliminate human trafficking and scam-related activities. Through continuous advocacy, awareness campaigns, and strategic partnerships, we aim to create a safer society where every individual is protected from exploitation.
We call on the Government of Liberia, international partners, and all concerned citizens to join us in this fight. Together, we can raise awareness, protect victims, and bring perpetrators to justice.
