CIWAG Young Feminist Mentees had a one(1) day engagement with Cllr. Bowoulo Taylor Kelley, Vice President, Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia (AFELL).
During her one(1) day mentorship, she give the history of AFELL, their mission and Vision, the scope of their legal framework and taught the girls some of their basic rights.
The girls had the opportunity to ask questions and clarifications were well digested.
At the climax of their engagement, they had the opportunity to have toured historical spaces within AFELL office. Some of those spaces mark’s significant transitions in our country’s history.
During their tour, they encountered a room bearing the pictures and names of past Chief Justices of the Supreme Court of Liberia who were women, along with their distinct tenures.
Some of their faces were recognized by our mentees, including familiar names but they never had idea of their roles played in history.
They also saw the past and present Presidents of AFELL and the current leadership along with their names, pictures and tenures.
Other areas captured were their calendar of events board highlighting series of activities hosted by AFELL, ICE bill boards with stop violence against women display, etc…
The day was climaxed with one on one networking and photoshoots session.
Community Initiative for Women and Girls remained grateful to AFELL and look forward to future opportunities and engagement.
