📰 Concerns Arise Over Railway Operations: Minister Bility's Alleged Role in HPX Proposal 🇱🇷

Minister of State Without Portfolio Mamaka Bility is reportedly at the center of a new national controversy involving the Buchanan-Yekepa railway.

Following the "Yellow Machine" issue, allegations have surfaced that Minister Bility is advocating for High-Power Exploration (HPX) and its subsidiary, Ivanhoe Liberia Limited, to take over operations of the railway from ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML).

HPX, primarily focused on transporting iron ore from Guinea through Liberia, is said to be offering between $5 million and $10 million annually in transit fees to the Liberian government. In comparison, AML has proposed up to $200 million per year upon approval of its revised Mineral Development Agreement (MDA).

The potential shift in railway operators raises questions about the economic implications for Liberia, as stakeholders consider the long-term benefits of each proposal.
