The objective of this initiative is to contribute to the manpower development of Margibi County, thereby giving back to the County education system in an appreciation of the honoree achievements. The ‘Dr. Smith Cares Initiative’ which shall be interchangeably referred to as the DOSCI is a personal initiative of Dr. John Solunta Smith, Jr., and in an appreciation of the role played by the peace-lo
ving people of Margibi County in his education sojourn. He began this initiative in early 2013 with the provision of financial assistance to fewer students from the Kakata Community College, Cuttington University Junior College, and the University of Liberia, respectively. To concretize this effort, it is believed that Dr. Smith Cares Initiative will allow the Chief-Patron to realize his dream of giving back to his community and county at large. This initiative intends to provide mentoring and coaching services, scholarship, and tuition assistance programs for deserving students and youth of Margibi as a way of contributing to the manpower development of Liberia. who has dedicated himself to the philosophy of fighting poverty through educational empowerment by investing in people.
