BEYOND THE CLASSROOM: TURNING DIGITAL SKILLS INTO REAL-WORLD EXPOSURE!

At YARD-Liberia Inc. Computer & Entrepreneurship Training Program, we believe learning should not end inside the classroom. Our students must see, experience, connect, and participate in the real world.

This year, over five of our students had the opportunity to represent and participate in the Mano River Union Internet Governance Forum-MRUIGF (MRU IGF) 2026, exposing them to discussions on digital governance, innovation, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, youth opportunities, and the future of the digital economy.

For our students, this was more than attending a conference it was a journey of exposure, networking, confidence-building, knowledge-sharing, and discovering new opportunities beyond the computer lab.
They interacted with young leaders, professionals, policymakers, and other stakeholders while gaining a broader understanding of how the digital skills they are learning can connect to entrepreneurship, leadership, employment, and community development.

The students were accompanied by our Executive Director, Amb Dennis Kromah Page II whose presence further encouraged them to learn, engage, ask questions, and embrace opportunities.

YARD-LIBERIA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO APPEAR ON GOOD MORNING MARGIBI

YARD-Liberia Inc. is pleased to announce that its Executive Director, Amb. Amb Dennis Kromah Page II, will be a guest on Good Morning Margibi (GMM) on Radio Peace 96.5MHz or PEACE TV LIVE .

Amb. Kromah will join host Emmanuel M Kangar Jr. , Jr. to engage in a timely and thought-provoking discussion on issues of local and national concern, with particular attention to matters affecting young people, communities, governance, development, accountability, education, and opportunities for Liberia’s next generation.

The conversation comes at a critical time when Liberia is experiencing important national developments, including discussions around domestic revenue growth, public resource management, youth empowerment, education, scholarship opportunities, and equitable development across the counties.

YARD-Liberia Inc. Engages in Strategic Coordination Meeting to Strengthen TVET at Harbel Multilateral High School

On yesterday, Youth Alliance for Rural Development in Liberia (YARD-Liberia), Inc.proudly participated in a strategic coordination meeting focused on strengthening the integration of the Ministry of Education’s Accelerated Vocational Training Programme (MOE-AVTP) at Harbel Multilateral High School.

The meeting brought together at the Harbel Multilateral High School TVET Center key stakeholders, including Assistant Minister for TVET, Hon. Nathaniel K. Cisco; the Director of the Bureau of TVET; MOE-AVTP Management; the Administration of Harbel Multilateral High School, led by Mr. David B. Farkollie; Mr. William B. Boyce, AVTP/TVET Coordinator at Harbel Multilateral High School; and teaching staff from both the academic and TVET departments.

Representing YARD-Liberia, Inc. was Executive Director Mr. Dennis Kromah, who actively participated and made significant contributions to the discussions. As the organization responsible for monitoring the UNIDO-supported TVET intervention at Harbel Multilateral High School, Mr. Kromah emphasized the importance of accountability, effective coordination, regular instructional delivery, and stronger collaboration among the school, TVET authorities, students, and civil society.

During his presentation, Mr. Kromah raised concerns regarding irregular attendance by some instructors in certain TVET departments, including Carpentry, Auto Mechanics, and other technical areas. He stressed that teachers must be present and actively engaged in their assigned classes if students are to acquire the practical competencies expected from the programme.

The meeting also highlighted the need to strengthen the participation of students in technical and vocational education and to create stronger pathways for young people to acquire practical skills. Participants agreed on the importance of promoting technical skills development beginning at Grades 9 and 10, allowing students to explore vocational opportunities earlier and better prepare for future employment, entrepreneurship, and further technical education.

The meeting concluded with a strong call for togetherness and collective action between civil society organizations and schools to promote technical and vocational skills development, strengthen the delivery of TVET programmes, and create meaningful opportunities for young Liberians.

YARD-Liberia, Inc. remains committed to supporting quality TVET delivery, monitoring programme implementation, and advocating for practical skills development that prepares young people for a productive and self-reliant future.

YARD-Liberia Inc. WELCOMES TWO VACATION STUDENTS FOR HANDS-ON PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Building Young Minds Through Practical Learning and Professional Exposure!
Youth Alliance for Rural Development in Liberia (YARD-Liberia, Inc.) is pleased to welcome Miss Famatta September Bab Foko and Miss Amie H. Palama, two vacation students from the Office of the Labour Commissioner, Ministry of Labour, Lower Margibi Office, for a two-week experiential learning opportunity at YARD-Liberia.

As a proud partner of the Office of the Labour Commissioner, Ministry of Labour, Lower Margibi Office, YARD-Liberia is committed to creating meaningful opportunities for young people to gain practical knowledge, professional confidence, and workplace experience.
During their two-week placement, the students will be exposed to key areas of professional development, including:

👉Office Etiquette – understanding professionalism, workplace conduct, communication, and respect in an organizational environment.

👉Filing Systems – learning how documents and information are properly organized, managed, and retrieved.

👉Community Engagement – gaining an understanding of community-focused work and the importance of working with people to address local development needs.

👉Office Procedures – learning the day-to-day processes, responsibilities, and operational practices that contribute to an effective organization.

As part of their orientation and broader learning experience, Famatta and Amie were also introduced to the Executive Director of our partner organization, Voices Liberia, Enoch Godson Brooks, who providing them with an opportunity to understand the importance of partnerships and collaboration in advancing community and youth development.

At YARD-Liberia, we believe that education becomes more powerful when young people can connect classroom knowledge with real-world experience. We are therefore excited to support these two young women as they learn, grow, and prepare themselves for future opportunities.

We welcome Famatta Foko and Amie H. Palama to YARD-Liberia and wish them a productive, inspiring, and memorable two weeks with us.
