Election Guidelines

Qualification of Candidates
Any student vying for the position of president must meet the following criteria:
✓Be a senior, full time student of the university.
✓Must be a registered member of the association with NUSA membership form.
✓Must be clear of all financial obligations of the association.
✓Must have had some working experiences with the association, and of good moral behaviors in and out of the association.
✓Must have a current GPA of 2.5 or above from the previous semester and nothing less.
✓Must express his or her interest through a letter of application to the office of the election commission and obtain letter of accreditation.
Any student who wants to contest for the presidency must be a senior and for the vice presidency must be a junior student or above, meeting up with all of the above-mentioned criteria for the presidency and vice presidency respectively.
Students who want to contest for the positions of General Secretary, Financial Secretary, and Treasure must be sophomore or above, and meet up with all the above-mentioned criteria.
Any student contesting for the position of Chaplain could be a freshman or above, who is involved with Christianity, and must meet up with all criteria set for the lower positions; with the exception of the GPA.
All accredited candidates must:
✓Observe the calendar of events during the course of elections to avoid embarrassment and disqualification.
Must understand that the ✓payment made for the registration of candidates are nonrefundable.
However, the election commission shall give timely updates to the qualified candidates and the association on issues surrounding the election.
The election commission shall no later than 24 hours announce election results on the day of the election.
Eligibility of voters
All students with NUSA membership form and current control sheet for additional identity will be allowed to vote. The election commission urges students who have not purchased their membership form yet to do so now, as there will be no issuing of membership form during and after campaign, until the election is over. This is for electoral security reasons.
Complaints Process
Every election related complaints shall be addressed directly to the Hearing Officer, NUSA, through a written document. The Hearing Officer shall hear the complaint and find an amicable solution within 24 hours. But if the Hearing Officer cannot settle the complaint, then it shall be forwarded to the Board of Commission for proper redress within 24 hours.
