Attention members and executive committee members of Ideal Brains With Vision For Innovation (IBVI) are called to duty.
Last month our Administrative Assistant Darlington T. Kartee, I had the opportunity to apply on behalf of our organization for a resource partnership with Global Action for Sustainable Development-GASD, where youth-led and community-based organizations will become a resource partner in the Community Participation Project to strengthen drug demand reduction interventions in Liberia. Our organization was selected after a successful application and interview process.
The next step for participating organizations will be the online orientation and expectation meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 3:00 PM. This session will provide detailed information about the project, our expectations from resource partners, and an overview of our roles and responsibilities.
The overall goal of the Project is to empower communities through active involvement and collaboration to effectively reduce drug demand and mitigate the impact of substance abuse.
This initiative aims to enhance community resilience by promoting awareness, prevention, and education programs, fostering a supportive environment for individuals and families affected by drug use, and facilitating access to rehabilitation and recovery services.
By leveraging local resources and strengthening community networks, the project seeks to create sustainable, community-driven strategies that address the root causes of drug demand and contribute to long-term public health and safety in Liberia.
The project will be implemented in five (5) counties including:
1. B**g
2. Grand Bassa
3. Margibi
4. Montserrado
5. Nimba
Over 50 youth-led and community-based organizations capacity will be enhanced and strengthen to lead community activities for sustainability. Recruitment and mobilization of local/ resource partners will commence soon.
