Dear Young Leaders, Participants, Partners, and Friends,
The West African Youth Development Agency (WAYDA) extends sincere appreciation to everyone who has remained committed, patient, and supportive as we prepare for the Grand Bassa County Commemoration of United Nations International Youth Day 2026.
Following important engagements with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Grand Bassa County Administration, and key partners, we are pleased to officially announce that our celebration has been rescheduled.

📅 NEW DATE: SATURDAY, AUGUST 22, 2026
📍 VENUE: UNIFICATION PAVILION, BUCHANAN CITY, GRAND BASSA COUNTY 🇱🇷
This is NOT a cancellation. It is an extension of our preparation. ❤️
The additional time will allow us to strengthen coordination with our partners, mobilize the necessary resources, finalize transportation and logistics, and deliver a celebration that truly reflects the importance of young people and the 2026 International Youth Day theme.
We know many of you prepared for August 12, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding. Your commitment has not gone unnoticed.

🗣️ IMPORTANT PARTICIPANTS' MEETING
We will hold an important online meeting through our official International Youth Day WhatsApp group to explain the changes and engage directly with participants.
During the meeting, we will address:
✅ The reason for the date change
✅ Confirmation of August 22 arrangements
✅ Transportation for participants coming from Monrovia and other counties
✅ Registration and participant confirmation
✅ Speakers, partners and institutional participation
✅ Programme updates
✅ Questions, concerns and suggestions
✅ The road map toward August 22
We strongly encourage every registered and prospective participant to attend. We want everyone to receive accurate information directly from the organizing team and have the opportunity to contribute.

YOUNG PEOPLE ARE READY. NOW WE NEED PARTNERS TO STAND WITH THEM. 🤝
As we count down to Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the West African Youth Development Agency (WAYDA) is proud to lead the commemoration of International Youth Day 2026 in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, bringing together young people from Grand Bassa and other parts of Liberia.

🕗 Youth Parade: 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM
🕙 Official Programme: 10:00 AM
🎟️ Participation is FREE for young people.

🌍 THIS IS MORE THAN A CELEBRATION — IT IS AN INVESTMENT IN YOUNG PEOPLE.

For more than a decade, WAYDA and partners have created platforms for young people to connect, lead, learn, innovate and participate in national development. Through our various youth programmes and celebrations, we have reached more than 15,000 young people.
This year, we are taking the celebration to Buchanan, while keeping the doors open to young people from across Liberia.
Our decision is intentional.
With the Ministry of Youth and Sports hosting the national celebration in Monrovia, WAYDA chose not to duplicate the same effort. Instead, we responded to the call from Grand Bassa County and created another opportunity for young Liberians particularly those who may not be able to travel to Monrovia—to experience International Youth Day in their own county.

🇱🇷 BUCHANAN IS READY. OUR YOUNG PEOPLE ARE READY.
We currently have more than 500 young people expressing interest and looking forward to this celebration, including young people hoping to travel from Monrovia and other counties.
The programme will feature:
