Samutthana

Samutthana We are an organization that works with capacity building in mental health around Sri Lanka.

Samutthana was formed by The UK-Sri Lanka Trauma Group (UKSLTG) on the 26th of May 2006 as the resource centre for trauma, displacement and mental health in Sri Lanka. The UKSLTG comprises of a group of Sri Lankan expatriates and British Mental Health professionals. Samutthana means 'renewal' or 'regeneration' in sanskrit and its basic role is to promote mental wellbeing, the main focus being on c

apacity building. In order to make effective use of our professional skills and expertise, we liaise directly with mental health professionals-psychiatrists and nurses, psychologists and sociologists, clergy and teachers, lawyers and counsellors, relief workers and community volunteers who in turn work with those who have been traumatized by their experiences. We train and support these professionals to improve their skills so that they can deal more efficiently with the psychological consequences of the post-war era and trauma in general. 30/54, Malalasekera Mw, Colombo 07, Sri Lanka+94 [email protected]
