THOSS visited Shana Special Needs School, a small rural school in Matale, Sri Lanka dedicated to supporting children with special needs. The school may not have the resources of bigger city institutions, but it is full of laughter, curiosity, and determination.
We brought along simple but important school supplies — exercise books, pens, pencils, snacks, and instrument boxes for geometry — hoping to make their learning a little easier and their days a little brighter.
We are especially grateful to the teachers, whose kindness and dedication shine through in everything they do. Their patience and creativity help every student feel valued and included. A special thanks also goes to the principal, whose leadership and support make such a nurturing learning environment possible.
The joy in the children’s faces reminded us that even small acts of kindness can create a big impact. In giving, we received so much more in return: gratitude, smiles, and a renewed belief in the power of community.
