Lion.Mahinda Perera joined Lionism in the year 1991 as a member of the Lions club of Colombo Fort by the invitation of late PDG Lion Douglas Dayasiri. In the year 1992/1993 he became the Secretary of the Club just one year after becoming a Lion. His performances were such that he managed to get the best Secretary runner up award of the district for that year .Subsequently, he was the unanimous cho
ice for the position of the President of the Club in the year 1999/2000. Lion Mahinda’s excellent performance paved way for him to be crowned as the Best President in the District whilst his club Colombo Fort was awarded best Club in the District – runner up position. In the next year he became a Cabinet Officer in the district and functioned as the District Chairperson, Career Guidance and Vocational Training and continued in the same position until he was appointed as the Zone Chairperson where his performance paved way for him to be the Best Zone Chairperson – runner up in the District in the year .2009/2010. Later on based on his merit he was appointed as the Region Chairperson won the award of the Best region Chairperson in the district for the year 2010/2011. Recognizing his commitment & capabilities he was nominated the Lions International by the then District Governor to be the Global Leadership Team District Coordinator for District 306 C1 where he was assigned to develop leadership skills of the club officers and cabinet Officers. He was instrumental in conducting workshops, seminars and orientation programs throughout the District. His services were well recognized by the other district resulting inviting him to be a resource person of the workshops and seminars organized by the other districts. Furthering another step forward, he was appointed by the respective district governor as the Deputy Cabinet Secretary in charge of carrying out Club excellence Process Training and familiarizing program for the year 2014/15 and 2015/2016 where he had to visit each and every club in the district. Lion Mahinda was honored by the District Governor by appointing him as the Deputy Cabinet Secretary Centennial Service Challenge where he managed to obtain the international recognition for the district through his dedicated service and effective communication skills. Recognizing his years long experience, dedication and commitment, this talented lion was hand picked by the Centennial District Governor Lion Ranji Hewage as his Cabinet Treasurer. At the outset, he has successfully contributed his lions share to the district by canvassing advertisements for the value of well above Rs.3 million making district fundraising a easy task. He is a well-received Motivational Speaker, and Professional Skills Development Trainer and has conducted a vast number of training programs for more than 20,000 participants through his workshops, career guidance and leadership programs in private and public sector institutions such as Social Services Department ,Ministry of Mass Media, Sri Lanka Police, Immigration Department , Distance Learning Centers, Ministry of Education , Mathurata Plantations PLC, Commercial Banks, and other companies engaged in different business spears. . He was also a regular resource person for the “Illakkaya” Rupavahini Program conducted by SLRC for a period well over three years, and some other radio channels as well. Lion Mahinda has twenty six years of remarkable experience in the insurance industry (marketing and sales sectors) and he was selected as a Member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) in the USA in 2003. In 2003 and 2004, he was awarded Best National Team Manager of Eagle Insurance PLC (name is in Hall of Fame of Eagle insurance).. He participated in prestigious Financial Services Advisers Conference (Asia Pacific/Oceania), LIMRA International and Million Dollar Round Table in California, USA in June 2004 also in September 2004 in South Korea. At present he works as a Senior Zonal Manager, Asian Alliance PLC,where he has developed a high performance team, strengthened executive level customer relationships, and grown zonal teams. He became the Best National Regional Manager of Asian Alliance Insurance in 2013 and 2014. He has participated and represented several international forums and conferences in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Egypt, USA, South Korea, Singapore, India,Australia, German and Thailand representing his own field of insurance and Lions movement. Lion Mahinda is a product of Kalubovila Buddhagosha M V and D S Senanayake College, Colombo 07. He is a Fellow of the Life Underwriting Council (LUTCF) USA and AMTC. Dip. Holder and possesses post Graduate Management Diploma from Sri Jayawardenapura University. Lion Mahinda is the loving husband of Lion Lady Vineetha and father to a daughter (Medical Student) and 09 year old son who is still schooling.
