The Gramodaya Women’s Health Centre was officially inaugurated and handed over to the communities of Sinnampillachenai (Muslim) and Karadipokku (Tamil) on 15 May 2026.

This health facility was constructed under the project aimed at “Strengthening Rural Healthcare in Sri Lanka”, funded by Global Helping Hands UK and implemented by Global One Sri Lanka. Following completion, the building was formally taken over by the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) and Medical Officer of Health (MOH) officials, ensuring the sustainable operation and maintenance of its services.
The establishment of the centre has been warmly welcomed by local women, who expressed relief at the reduction of expenses related to travel and the significant time previously spent away from their children and families. The health centre now provides accessible, quality care within the community, representing a major advancement in rural healthcare provision.

The box of life packs was distributed to 30 pregnant sisters, each containing essential items designed to support both mother and infant health, ensuring their well-being during and after pregnancy.
