Weekly Medical Clinic on February 5th by Dr. Thayalan Ambalavanar at Jaffna Jaipur Center
On February 5th, Dr. Thayalan Ambalavanar ( Surgeon / Visiting Medical Advisor) conducted the weekly medical clinic at the Jaffna Jaipur Center ,as he has done over the past few months, providing essential healthcare services to individuals in need.
A total of six clients attended the clinic, seeking consultations for a variety of medical conditions.
Dr. Ambalavanar provided individualized assessments and advice for each client. His recommendations included the issuance of support devices, as well as the casting of devices for prosthetics and orthotics. These devices are crucial for assisting individuals with mobility and improving their daily functioning.
In addition to the physical devices, Dr. Ambalavanar also offered therapeutic advice tailored to each client’s specific condition, ensuring that they have a comprehensive plan for ongoing management and rehabilitation. Moreover, some clients were referred to specialists for further treatment or assessments, ensuring that they receive the best possible care.
Among the six clients, there were four amputees who required prosthetic devices, one individual with diabetes-related foot complications , and one child with cerebral palsy. Each of these clients had unique needs, and Dr. Ambalavanar’s consultations were designed to address their specific challenges.
For the amputees, prosthetic devices will be provided to improve mobility and independence. The diabetic patient was given advice on wound care and managing complications to prevent further health issues. The child previously diagnosed with cerebral palsy was referred to a specialist at the Rehabilitation unit – TH Jaffna for further assessment and physiotherapy.
The weekly clinics are part of an ongoing effort at the Jaffna Jaipur Center to provide essential medical care and specialized devices to individuals in need, improving their overall quality of life. The clinics are unique as they are multidisciplinary in nature and include the participation of the Jaipur Centre physiotherapists, orthotist and prosthetist in addition to Dr.Ambalavanar.This ensures a holistic approach while minimising time delays for patients.
