Education A Pathway to a Better Future

The Rotaract Club of Jaffna Mid Town recently supported Mathusanth and his family by providing a bicycle, study materials, and dry rations through the generous contribution of a lady donor from Darwin, Australia. This request was received through Keethana and carried out by Rotaractors Thanusan, Aloscius, and Gogul.

Mathusanth, aged 18, is currently studying for his Advanced Level examinations at J/Puthur Somaskantha College. Like many families facing difficult circumstances, his household has been struggling after his father left the family. His mother, aged 47, works as a house cleaner to support the family and keep her children's educational dreams alive. His sister is currently unemployed, adding to the family's financial challenges.

Despite these hardships, Mathusanth remains dedicated to his studies. The bicycle will help him travel the long distance to school more easily, while the study materials and dry rations will reduce some of the burdens faced by the family.

We firmly believe that education is the key to overcoming poverty and creating brighter futures. We sincerely thank our donor for standing beside this deserving student and helping him continue his educational journey

A Bicycle for Hope

The Rotaract Club of Jaffna Mid Town recently extended support to Mr. Thievarathan's family by providing two bicycles, study materials, and dry rations through the generous sponsorship of a kind-hearted lady donor from Darwin, Australia.

Thievarathan is a father of three children – Anuran, Anura, and Thisara – living in Veersvani, Puthur, nearly 22 km from Jaffna. Anuran and Anura, twins studying in Grade 6 at J/Varatharavaththai Vickneswara Vidyalayam, walk nearly 2 km each day to attend school, while their younger sister Thisara attends preschool. Despite facing severe financial hardships, the family remains committed to ensuring their children receive an education.

The bicycles will ease the children's daily commute, while the study materials and dry rations will provide much-needed support to the household.
At Rotaract Jaffna Mid Town, we believe that education is one of the most powerful tools to break the cycle of poverty. We are grateful to our donor for helping us make a meaningful difference in the lives of these young learners.

Thalassaemia Support Project 🌟

Thousands of children and young adults across Sri Lanka continue to battle Thalassaemia, a serious genetic 🧬 disorder that requires continuous medical care and support.

In the coastal community of Karainagar, located 21 km away from Jaffna, 14 families consisting of 29 affected individuals are courageously facing this challenge every day. One such family is Mr. Perinbarasan and his wife Mayuran, together with their children Sameera and Kabisana.
