Maranatha Children's Home, Sri Lanka

Maranatha Children's Home, Sri Lanka God’s love moved us to care for and look after orphans and destitute children of all races, creeds, colors, and religions.

The Maranatha Children’s Home was founded in 1997 to provide a haven of love, care, and rehabilitation for vulnerable children. Out of a profound sense of God's love, we have been compelled to extend our care to orphaned and underprivileged children from diverse backgrounds, encompassing various races, creeds, colors, and religions. The inception of Maranatha Children's Home dates back to January

4, 1997, with the SLVGM Board of Trustees serving as its overseeing authority. Our institution is duly registered with the Ambagamuwa Divisional Secretariat under Company Act No. GA 189 and holds the Social Services Department Register No. 299. In close partnership with the Probation Department and the Prisons, we have established collaborations to address the needs of incarcerated children who are entrusted to us for their rehabilitation and restoration. It is a solemn realization that the issue of neglected children will persist until the return of Jesus to Earth. Thus, our ministry was aptly christened "Maranatha," a word imbued with the significance of "Jesus is coming soon." This name reflects our unwavering commitment to fostering hope and healing among the children under our care.

MCH Ditwah Disaster Relief & Recovery Initiative

Maranatha Children’s Home (MCH) initiated the MCH Ditwah Disaster Relief & Recovery Initiative in response to the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah, to support families who lost their homes due to landslides. These families were identified in coordination with the Grama Sevaka (GS) Officer as among the most vulnerable and economically needy in the affected area. Following continuous heavy rainfall and a sudden landslide, they were evacuated on the night of the disaster and relocated to temporary shelter. Authorities have since declared their original area unsafe for habitation, requiring permanent relocation.

We extend our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Let Us Help Foundation, the major contributor to this initiative. Their generosity and compassion have made it possible for us to respond swiftly and meaningfully to the urgent needs of these displaced families. We deeply appreciate their partnership and commitment to standing with communities in times of crisis.

🎄✨ A Christmas Wrapped in Love and Gratitude ✨🎄

This Christmas, our hearts are full as we see the smiles of our children—dressed in their beautiful new Christmas outfits and glowing with joy. Each dress is more than fabric; it is a reminder that they are seen, loved, and remembered.

We express our heartfelt thanks to St. James Church, Alperton (England) and Mr. Priya Eugene for generously sponsoring these Christmas dresses for our children. Your kindness has brought dignity, happiness, and festive cheer into their lives, and it will be remembered far beyond this season.

May the love of Christ, who came as a child for the world, continue to bless you richly.
From all of us at Maranatha Children’s Home — thank you for making this Christmas truly special. ❤️🎁✨

🌷 Celebrating the Beautiful Life of Daphne Joy Elizabeth 🌷

Today, November 8, we pause not only to remember but to celebrate the life of Daphne Joy Elizabeth, co-founder of Maranatha Children’s Home — a woman whose love quietly changed countless lives.

Daphne didn’t seek recognition or applause. Her legacy was built in the everyday — in the gentle smile that welcomed a new child, in the comforting words whispered to the broken, and in the steadfast faith that carried this Home through every season.

The children called her “Amma,” and to them she was more than a caretaker — she was a safe place, a motherly embrace, a living reflection of God’s compassion. Even after her passing, the seeds she planted continue to grow in every life touched by Maranatha’s mission.

Today, we give thanks for a woman whose life still speaks — a life of faith that built a family, a home, and a hope that endures.

💐 Amma, your love still blooms in every corner of Maranatha. 💐

🌸 Remembering Daphne Joy Elizabeth: A Legacy of Love and Service 🌸

Today, November 8, we celebrate the birthday of Daphne Joy Elizabeth, a beloved co-founder of Maranatha Children’s Home. Though she passed away a decade ago, her love and dedication continue to shape our Home and inspire our mission every day.

Fondly called “Amma,” meaning "mother," by the children, Daphne invested her time, energy, and resources to ensure that every child at Maranatha felt cherished, valued, and supported. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and her life remains a testament to the power of compassion and selfless service.

Today, we honor Daphne’s enduring legacy, a life lived with profound purpose and endless generosity. Please join us in remembering her, and let us keep her family and the children of Maranatha in our prayers.

❤️ Forever in our hearts, Amma. ❤️
