German activist Nesrin Zeaiter, who participated in the Global Sumud flotilla carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, has accused Israeli forces of abusing and torturing her after the ship was intercepted.
According to Zeaiter, after returning to Germany, she told media outlets that she was blindfolded immediately after being detained and subjected to mistreatment while her hands were tied. She further alleged that Israeli soldiers assaulted her, that she was bitten by dogs, and even stabbed with a knife.
The Global Sumud organization also stated that several other activists on board experienced physical and psychological abuse by Israeli security forces. Reports claim that some participants suffered broken bones and electric shocks during detention.
Following these allegations, the German government requested clarification from Israel regarding reports that German citizens had been harmed.
