We met a community living on the edge and an ocean under silent threat.
We listened to their stories, saw their struggles, and witnessed the dangers facing their seas.

We’re excited to announce that our MarSow research team is heading to Muthur - the first step in protecting oceans while uplifting coastal communities.

Through Marine Social Work, we’re bringing science and people together to:
• Learn directly from local fishing families
• Assess community needs & ocean challenges
• Co-create solutions that protect both livelihoods & ecosystems

This is just the beginning - the towards healthy oceans & thriving communities.

🌊 We’re Hiring: Head of Marine Division (Volunteer Leadership Role with Future Paid
Potential) 🌊

MarSow is on a mission to protect Sri Lanka’s marine ecosystems and uplift coastal communities through conservation, sustainable fishing, and community-driven initiatives.

We’re seeking a passionate leader to head our Marine Division and drive impactful programs in marine research, conservation, and community engagement.

What You’ll Do:
• Lead and manage marine projects and field operations.
• Develop and implement programs aligned with MarSow’s vision.
• Collaborate with communities, stakeholders, and partners.
• Ensure high-quality data, monitoring, and reporting.
• Represent MarSow in marine conservation networks and policy discussions.

Who You Are:
• Experienced in marine science, oceanography, coastal management, or related fields.
• A strong leader and team manager.
• Skilled in community engagement and conservation program design.
• Passionate about marine ecosystems and sustainable development.
• Open to a volunteer leadership role with the opportunity to transition to a paid position as the organization grows and secures funding.
