🚑 Hello, I’m Shakun Croos, and this mission is deeply personal to me. My journey in first aid began in 2004 when I joined an international humanitarian organization as a first aider, working with communities devastated by the tsunami in Sri Lanka. Witnessing the power of first aid in saving lives—and the tragedy of not knowing what to do-cha

nged my life forever. Determined to make a difference, I dedicated myself to learning and teaching first aid, eventually becoming a senior first aid trainer. Over the past 16 years, I’ve conducted more than 2,300 first aid training sessions, reaching over 60,000 people across Sri Lanka. But despite these efforts, I realized something was missing. Many people who needed first aid knowledge the most-those in rural communities, small businesses, schools, and homes-were never trained. Unlike corporate workplaces, they had no medical backup, no emergency responders, and often, no means to afford training. Throughout my career, I have heard heartbreaking stories. Parents who lost children, children who lost parents, and people who watched helplessly as loved ones died-simply because they didn’t know CPR or basic first aid. Many told me, "If only we had known what to do, we could have saved them." Save. - to give everyone a chance to learn life-saving skills, regardless of their financial situation. This mission is built on community support. If you believe in making Sri Lanka a safer place, you can help by:

✔ Supporting our volunteer trainers by helping with transport, logistics, or providing training spaces.
✔ Providing training equipment such as CPR manikins or multimedia tools
✔ Encouraging businesses and institutions to collaborate with us, first aid organizations can offer technical support, equipment, or certifications. Free BLS Training Session at Ocean University - Negombo

Today (27.04.2025), we successfully conducted a free Basic Life Support (BLS) session for the students of Ocean University - Negombo.

A total of 17 students from the NVQ Lifeguard Course actively participated.
We covered vital life-saving topics, including:
✅ Basic Life Support (BLS)
✅ Use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
✅ First Aid for Choking
✅ Management of Fractures and Spinal Injuries

It’s inspiring to see future lifeguards strengthening their skills to save lives!

Empowering Workplace Safety at Noratel International (Pvt) Ltd!

Today, on April 2, 2025, the Learn.Act.Save. initiative successfully conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) training for the dedicated staff of Noratel International (Pvt) Ltd, Phase 2, KEPZ, Katunayake. This session empowered 23 staff members, including senior management representatives, with lifesaving skills to respond effectively in emergencies.
What we covered:
Basic Life Support (BLS) techniques
AED
CPR and emergency response skills
This program was organized by Noratel International (Pvt) Ltd, with full support for transportation and logistics provided by their team. The training was conducted by Global Knowledge Academy, while SHARAC Safety International (Pvt) Ltd generously sponsored the certifications for all participants.
A special thank you goes to Ms. Chulani Senavirathne, Training & Development Manager, whose leadership and commitment made this training possible. Her dedication to workplace safety ensured that Noratel’s staff are now better prepared to act in critical situations.

Empowering Preschool Teachers with Lifesaving Skills!

On March 28, 2025, the Learn.Act.Save. initiative proudly conducted our first Basic Life Support (BLS) training for the dedicated preschool teachers of Green Kids International Preschool in Kurunegala. This session was initiated upon the request of concerned parents Mrs. Kanchana Dissanayaka & Mr. Sahan Chamruk, who recognized the importance of equipping teachers with lifesaving skills for the safety of their little learners.

26 preschool teachers were trained in:
✅ Basic Life Support (BLS) techniques
✅ Choking response for children & infants
✅ First aid for common preschool injuries

This session was offered free of charge to the teachers, with Global Knowledge Academy and SHARAC Safety International (PVT) Ltd. generously covering certification, transportation, and administration costs.

Why is this important? In critical moments, early response saves lives. By empowering educators with CPR and first aid skills, we are ensuring a safer environment for children under their care.

2025 මාර්තු 28 වන දින, Learn.Act.Save. වැඩසටහන යටතේ, කුරුණෑගල පිහිටි Green Kids International පෙර පාසලේ පෙර පාසල් ගුරුවරියන් සඳහා අපගේ පළමු මූලික ජීවිතාරක්ෂක (BLS) පුහුණුව ආඩම්බරයෙන් පැවැත්වීය. මෙම සැසිය ආරම්භ කරන ලද්දේ එම පෙර පාසලේ දරුවකුගෙ දෙමාපියන් වන කාංචනා දිසානායක මහත්මිය සහ සහන් චම්රුක් මහතා විසිනි, ඔවුන් තම කුඩා ඉගෙන ගන්නන්ගේ ආරක්ෂාව සඳහා ගුරුවරුන් ජීවිතාරක්ෂක කුසලතා වලින් සන්නද්ධ කිරීමේ වැදගත්කම හඳුනා ගත්හ.

පෙර පාසල් ගුරුවරුන් 26 දෙනෙකුට පහත සඳහන් ක්ෂේත්‍ර පිළිබඳව පුහුණුව ලබා දෙන ලදී:
මූලික ජීවිතාරක්ෂක (BLS) ශිල්පීය ක්‍රම
ළමුන් සහ ළදරුවන් සඳහා උගුරේ යමක් හිරවීමේදි කල යුතු ප්‍රථමාධාර
පොදු පෙර පාසල් වටපිටාව තුල සිදුවන අනතුරු සඳහා අවශ්‍ය මූලික ප්‍රථමාධාර

මෙම සැසිය ගුරුවරුන්ට නොමිලේ පිරිනමන ලද අතර, Global Knowledge Academy සහ SHARAC Safety International (PVT) Ltd. සහතික සදහා, ප්‍රවාහනය සහ පරිපාලන වියදම් නොමසුරුව ආවරණය කරන ලදී.
