National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri-Lanka Unifying the Church to Transform the Nation

The National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka (NCEASL), originally the Evangelical Fellowship of Ceylon (EFC), was founded in June 1952 and has a membership of over 200 churches, denominations and organisations, representing over 200,000 Evangelical Christians in Sri Lanka. The NCEASL, in keeping with its vision of ‘Unifying the Church to Transform the Nation’, works proactively in four

broad areas of Missions and Evangelism, Religious Liberty and Social Justice (RLC), Relief and Development (RND) and the Youth Evangelical Alliance (YEA).

A dynamic two-day residential training on Freedom of Expression and Freedom of Religion or Belief took place on 21–22 February in Colombo, bringing together 26 lawyers from across the country, including Polonnaruwa, Kandy, Hatton, Kurunegala, and Ratnapura.

Led by senior legal practitioners Lakshan Dias, Jagath Liyanarachchi, and Nuwan Bopage, the programme explored key areas such as the Right to Information, ICCPR, the Online Safety Act, strategic engagement with Commissions, and real-world case studies.

The sessions sparked thoughtful discussion on current legal challenges, while also strengthening professional knowledge and networks. This initiative was made possible with the support of the Netherlands Embassy under the “Protecting Expression in Plural Sri Lanka” project.

“When Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man with leprosy, He said, ‘Be clean!’ Immediately he was cleansed.” – Matthew 8:3

Leprosy is not just a story from the Bible. It is still a present reality in Sri Lanka.
Every year, hundreds of new cases are reported — but many go undiagnosed because of fear, stigma, and silence.

So here’s the truth 👉
• Leprosy is curable with timely treatment.
• ⁠It does NOT spread through hugs, handshakes, or sharing meals.
• ⁠The real enemy is stigma, which causes people to hide their illness instead of seeking treatment.

As followers of Christ, we are called to see and serve those who are often pushed to the margins. By breaking stigma and showing compassion, we reflect the healing love of Jesus.

🙏 Let’s raise awareness and move towards a leprosy-free Sri Lanka, where every person is treated with dignity and love.
