Sarvodaya women's movement

Sarvodaya women's movement Sarvodaya Women Movement (SWM) was started as an offshoot of the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement , which was started in 1958 by Dr. A.T Ariyarathne .

Citizen of Sri Lanka not only comprise of men but also women, female as percent of total population in Sri Lanka was last measured at 51.83% in 2015. Women do have a different perspective in development than men and this vision is essential to push the country forward and therefore women’s representation is important in decision making. With this understanding SWM have been implementing variety of programs to empower women paying special attention to marginalized women.
