The inaugural awards ceremony of the Vinoj Jayasundara memorial prize was held on Saturday, 30th August 2025 from 10 AM onwards at the Electronic and Telecommunications Department of the University of Moratuwa.

The review panel was truly impressed by the quality of all submissions and final presentations. The diversity of research was incredible, with projects touching on everything from particle physics and new materials for renewable energy to AI in smart buildings and structural engineering. Congratulations to all applicants who participated in this inaugural competition, and we wish you the best of luck in your future research!

Announcing the Vinoj Jayasundara Memorial Prize for Research Excellence 🏆

This prize aims to honour Vinoj Jayasundara's legacy of excellence and positive impact, supporting impactful research in Sri Lanka.

Eligibility:

• Only open to Engineering Faculty students of the University of Moratuwa, in Sri Lanka.
• Must be current students OR finished studies within the past year (Aug 2024 - July 2025).
• Both Individual and Team applications are accepted.

Research Requirements:

• Paper published or accepted for publication between Aug 2024 - July 2025.
• Must be at high-quality Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Computer Vision venues.
• Paper must be accessible to the review committee (ArXiv, ResearchGate, or shared Google Drive link).
