📍 Maligawila – Yashodara Women’s Organization

Vikalpani’s new initiative with the new members in Maligawila.

🌱 Members gained a clear understanding on agroecology and showed interest in participating in the future programs . They also agreed to initiate home gardening with agroecological practices.

All participants were provided with 24 home gardening seed kits.(distributed by Vikalpani Women’s Federation).

මොණරාගල දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ කාන්තා සමිති දහයක් සමඟ විකල්පනී ජාතික සංවිධානය මේ වසරේ වැඩකරනවා. එහිදී එහි සාමාජිකාවන්ගේ ධාරිතා සංවර්ධන ඉහළ නැංවීමට ඔවුන්ට අවශ්‍ය ගිණුම්කරනය සම්බන්ධ පුහුණු වැඩසටහනක් පසුගිය දා RWVL ව්‍යාප්තිය යටතේ පැවැත්වූවා.

Training on Bookkeeping and accounting for Women’s Societies in Monaragala District

Vikalpani National Organization is working this year with ten women’s societies in the Monaragala District. As part of this, a training program on accounting/bookkeeping was recently conducted under the RWVL program to strengthen the capacity of the members.

✨ Community Pesticide Action Monitoring (CPAM) & Focus Group Discussion Training in Penang brought together participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, and Sri Lanka.

This year Vikalpani is contributing to the research work of impact of highly hazardous pesticides on communities using CPAM platform developed by PAN AP. Ms chathu and Ms Sinthuja participated for the technical workshop in Penang Malaysia . Vikalpani will contribute to the regional research by monitoring pesticides exposure.

This is a strong start to a collaborative journey toward healthier communities and pesticide justice.

🌱 Women’s organisations are forging solidarity across peasants, Indigenous peoples, workers, migrants, and feminist movements—because interconnected crises demand united responses.

💪 Centering rural women’s leadership secures dignity, autonomy, land, and justice amid authoritarianism. Their voices from the ground remind us: agroecology, collective cultivation, and mass organising are lifelines for survival and sovereignty.

🌾 Care Work and Unequal Burden under Crisis 🌾

Rural women keep families and communities alive by balancing farm work with the hidden labour of cooking, caregiving, collecting water, and sustaining ecosystems.

But crises such as conflict, displacement, climate stress, and economic precarity intensify this burden -- threatening women’s health and silencing their voices in decision-making.

Recognition matters. Women’s labour sustains ecosystems and communities. Acknowledging and redistributing care work is essential for dignity, autonomy, and participation.

Stand with rural women. Address unpaid care work, secure livelihoods, and empower women to lead in food, climate, and community decisions.
