This Teachers’ Day, we are celebrating the teacher who made our 3 month Spoken English Programme possible. 💛

As a teacher with a decade of experience working in leading international schools and special education, she is also the founder of Alpha Club, offering personalized individual lessons for children and teenagers with special educational needs, she brought thoughtful lesson planning, expertise and genuine care to every class.

The programme was subsidised to make quality spoken English training accessible to students who were eager to improve their skills and build the confidence needed to pursue further education and opportunities in the workforce.

By giving her time and expertise, she helped turn a simple idea into an opportunity for students to find their voice, strengthen their confidence and open new doors.

Thank you for making a difference, one student at a time. 🌱

Today, on Children’s Day, the water pipeline at Vigneshwara Maha Vidyalayam in Hellbodde, Katukithula was successfully reopened, restoring water supply to the school.

After Cyclone Ditwah and the resulting floods damaged the school’s primary pipeline, around 500 students and staff were left without reliable access to running water. The children had even been using large buckets for their bathroom needs.

As part of Phase 05 of our flood relief efforts, the Inner Wheel Serendib eClub donated LKR 384,150 worth of essential materials, including over 400 PVC pipes, sockets and fittings. Although the supplies were procured, continuous rain in the hill country meant that the repair work could not begin immediately.

So, with the support of the local community, the pipes were finally opened in a small ceremony, bringing running water back to the school.

One of the largest projects of our 2025/2026 Inner Wheel year - and a particularly meaningful one to complete on Children’s Day. 💙

Thank you to everyone who supported us and helped turn a need into action. 🙌✨

Looking back on Phase 4 of our Cyclone Ditwah Relief Effort; we as a club were adamant about making sure our support towards the victims of the Cyclone Ditwah disaster were sustainable and long-term. Although we began with immediate action by donating over 600 hygiene and dignity packs, mattresses, pillows, etc., we continued our efforts in the Ramboda area by fundraising and liaising with generous sponsors to donate more essential supplies.

As part of our continued relief response, following essential supplies were provided to families in need:
🫕 36 single-burner gas cookers
🛏️ 46 pillows
🦟 158 packs of Mortein mosquito coils
🌸 36 packs of sanitary pads
🧼 3 packs of soap
👶 45 packs of baby diapers
👕 2 boxes of used clothing

We are grateful to everyone who supported this initiative at the time and helped us stand alongside families affected by the floods.
