"CIS HARMONY CENTER" AT "SALAM RAMADAN 2026".

Dear all,

Sharing a few scenes from the CIS Harmony Center stall which participated in the "Salam Ramadan 2026" event held last evening (27 instant).

Besides a Poster walkthrough incorporated into the stall, we also dispensed free Islamic literature and offered calligraphy services at a very nominal cost.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the three-day event, which will continue today (Saturday, 28th instant) and tomorrow (Sunday, 1st March).

GRANDEST MOSQUE TOUR OF THE YEAR TAKES PLACE!

Yet another very successful 'Welcome to our Mosque' Program took place at the Nawalapitiya Town Mosque yesterday.

The Mosque Tour was organised by the Centre for Islamic Studies Harmony Center in association with the Muslim Women's Research and Action Forum and YMMA Nawalapitiya supported by Diakonia.

Around 400 visitors of other faiths attended the event including local government officials, public officers from the AGA's Office, police personnel, medical professionals, school teachers and students and others from all walks of life. The Mosque Tour included a Guided Tour of the Mosque, Prayer demos, Islam Q & A, Poster Walkthrough, Book Corner, Henna Corner, Traditional Muslim Dress and Hijab try-on Corner, Free Calligraphy of Visitors' names, and Serving of Traditional Muslim Foods.

Asiff Hussein, Vice President, Outreach, CIS Harmony Center observed that it was a pleasure to have organised a Mosque Tour in Nawalapitiya which is known as "Peace Town" as it has never known a single instance of ethnic violence despite the fact that all major communities here are more or less equally represented.

He thanked the Trustees of the Nawalapitiya Town Jumma Masjid headed by Umar Mauroof for their exceptional support, YMMA Youth Team headed by Mohamed Shukri for a great job done, United Muslim Women’s Forum headed by Fathima Shibna which handled the Mehndi and Dress Corner and Jamiah Naleemiah and Haqqaniya Arabic College for their continued support in providing volunteers for the Mosque Tour and Calligraphists and the sponsors of the event, the Muslim Women's Research and Action Forum supported by Diakonia.

He especially thanked their team of Mosque Tour Guides headed by Mohamed Fawaz and Calligraphy Team headed by Adhil Ahamed.

SUCCESSFUL MOSQUE TOUR AT ELABADAGAMA MOSQUE, PANNALA

A 'Welcome to Our Mosque' Event was held at Elabadagama Mosque in Pannala yesterday.

The program was organised by the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs in association with the Centre for Islamic Studies Harmony Center and the Trustees of Elabadagama An Noor Mosque.

Asiff Hussein, Vice President-Outreach, CIS Harmony Center said that the event drew around 140 persons of other faiths, mainly from the state sector including law enforcement and medical personnel.

He added that they planned to have similar programs in association with the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs in future as well.

SPECIAL MOSQUE TOUR FOR LAW COLLEGE STUDENTS

The Centre for Islamic Studies Harmony Centre in Association with the Muslim Majlis of Law College and the Muslim Women's Research and Action Forum supported by Diakonia conducted yet another Mosque Tour for the Students of the Sri Lanka Law College. Around 120 Staff and Law Students of Other Faiths participated in the Mosque Tour.

The Mosque Tour included a Guided Tour of the Historic Kollupitiya Jumma Mosque, Q & A Sessions, Poster Walkthrough, Distribution of Literature clearing misconceptions of the Islamic faith, Free Calligraphy of Visitors Names, Henna Corner, Try on a Hijab Corner and Serving of Traditional Muslim Foods.

Asiff Hussein, Vice President, Outreach, Centre for Islamic Studies Harmony Center thanked all those who had contributed and participated in the Program including the Principal of the Law College, Prasantha Lal De Alwis and the Muslim Majlis of the Law College, Sheikh Muneer Mulaffer, Deputy Minister of National Integretion and Lead Mosque Tour Guide, Team of Mosque Tour Guides headed by Mohamed Fawaz, Team of Calligraphists headed by Mohamed Hasny, and Jamiah Naleemiah, Fathih Academy and Haqqaniya Arabic College for their support.

SPECIAL MOSQUE TOUR FOR MEDIA PEOPLE

A Special Mosque Tour for Media Personnel was held at Kollupitiya Jumma Mosque last evening.

The Program held under the theme “Welcome to our Mosque” was organized by the Centre for Islamic Studies Harmony Center in association with Muslim Women’s Research and Action Forum and supported by Diakonia.

The event saw a large and representative gathering of the members of print, electronic and social media participate in the event.
Besides a guided Tour of the Mosque by Sheikh Muneer Mulaffer, Deputy Minister of National Integration in Sinhala, Mohamed Munzeer in Tamil and Shifan Refai in English, the Mosque Tour involved lengthy Q & A Sessions, a Poster Walkthrough of Islamic Teachings and Muslim Cultural Contribution, a Free Literature Corner to clear misconceptions of the Islamic faith, a Calligraphy Corner where visitor’s Names were inscribed on golden board in beautiful Arabic script, a Henna corner for the Ladies and the serving of Traditional Muslim Foods.

Asiff Hussein, Vice-President, Outreach, Centre for Islamic Studies Harmony Center, said that the Program received a very positive response from the participants and that they hoped to have more programs of this nature in future.

Hussein thanked the Trustees of the Kollupitiya Jumma Mosque for all their support for the event, Deputy Minister of National Integration Sheikh Muneer Mulaffer for conducting the Main Mosque Tour, Team of Mosque Mosque Guides headed by Mohamed Fawaz and comprising of Mohamed Munzeer and Shifan Refai, Calligraphy Teams from Jamiah Naleemiah and Fathih Academy and Sisters Ayisha and Fahadha for heading the Henna Corner.

SUCCESSFUL MOSQUE TOUR GUIDES TRAINING WORKSHOP HELD AT CIS HARMONY CENTER AND KOLLUPITIYA JUMMA MOSQUE

A training program for fifty New Mosque Tour Guides was held yesterday at the CIS Harmony Center and Kollupitiya Jumma Mosque.

The resource persons included Sheikh Muneer Mulaffer, Deputy Minister of National Integration who has kindly consented to continue to serve as our Lead Mosque Tour Guide, Sheikh Althaf Farook of Al Ahsa Foundation and a well known Mosque Tour Guide Trainer of international acclaim and Asiff Hussein, Vice President, Outreach, CIS Harmony Center.

While the presentations were made at CIS Harmony Center the practicals were held at Kollupitiya Jumma Mosque. The participants were also awarded certificates.

Asiff Hussein, Vice President, Outreach, CIS Harmony Center, said that they hoped to widen their reach with the new Mosque Tour Guides and have more Mosque Tour Programs under their "Welcome to Our Mosque" theme this year as well in yet uncovered areas like Matale, Matara and Mannar. He noted it was very heartening to see more female trainees, as many as fifteen, enrolling to be trained as Mosque Tour Guides, since an average of 70 to 80 percent of visitors to Mosque Tours are women of other faiths.

Hussein thanked all those who assisted them including the Senior MTGS who shared their experiences and conducted the practicals for the trainees and the President and Board of Kollupitiya Jumma Mosque for kindly hosting them and providing all the necessary support.

He added a special word of appreciation to the United Guys organisation of Dickwella for coming all the way from their hometown to attend the workshop and for their interest in commencing walk-in Mosque tours in their historical town Mosque.
