GRANDEST MOSQUE TOUR OF THE YEAR!

Yet another very successful "Welcome to our Mosque" Program took place at Galgamuwa's Al Azhar Grand Mosque yesterday.

The Mosque Tour was organised by the Centre for Islamic Studies Harmony Center in association with the Trustees of the Mosque and Muslim Women's Research and Action Forum supported by Diakonia.

Around 1400 visitors of other faiths attended the event including local government officials, public officers from the AGA's Office, police personnel, legal profession, school teachers and students and others from all walks of life.

The Mosque Tour included a Guided Tour of the Mosque, Prayer demonstrations, Islam Q & A, Poster Walkthrough, Book Corner, Henna Corner, Traditional Muslim Dress and Hijab try-on Corner, Free Calligraphy of Visitors' names, and Serving of Traditional Muslim Foods.

Asiff Hussein, Vice President, Outreach, CIS Harmony Center observed that the Mosque Tour was extremely successful and reached numbers well beyond what they anticipated.

He especially thanked the Honourable Deputy Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs, Sheikh Muneer Mulaffer for gracing the occasion as Lead Mosque Tour Guide and the team of Mosque Tour Guides headed by Mohamed Fawaz and team of Calligraphists including Mahdie Mackeen, Ahamed Hakeem and Azeem Aboobucker.

He also thanked the Trustees of Al Azhar Masjid and especially the President of the Board of Trustees Udumalebbe Mohideen and Trustees Udumalebbe Haris and Noor Mohamed Hafiz for a great job done, Interfaith Activist Mohamed Kamaldeen for facilitating the meeting with the Trustees, Jamiah Naleemiah and Haqqaniya Arabic College for their continued support in providing volunteers for the Mosque Tour and Calligraphists and the sponsors of the event, the Muslim Women's Research and Action Forum supported by Diakonia.

SPECIAL MOSQUE TOUR FOR NATIONAL TOUR GUIDES

A Mosque Tour for National Tour Guides Studying Sri Lankan Archaeology and Heritage at the Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology was held today (2nd July 2026) at Jawatte Jumma Mosque.

The Program was organised by Centre for Islamic Studies Harmony Centre in association with the Muslim Women's Research and Action Forum supported by Diakonia.

Asiff Hussein, Vice President, Outreach, CIS Harmony Center thanked the PGIAR and especially Senior Lecturer Jayampath Senanayake for taking the initiative in this program and the Trustees of Jawatte Jumma Mosque and especially its Secretary Hameed Saleh for all the support extended.

He also thanked the team of Mosque Tour Guides headed by Mohamed Fawaz and including Irfan Razick, Mohamed Munzeer and Mohamed Nisreen for a good job done and the team of Calligraphists including Hakeem Ahamed, Mahdhie Mackeen and Navid Azeem for their untiring work in turning out beautiful specimens of Arabic calligraphy of the visitors names.

CIS HARMONY CENTER PARTICIPATES IN VESAK FAIR 2026

The Centre for Islamic Studies Harmony Center participated at the Vesak Fair in Slave Island organized by the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation yesterday (Saturday 30th May) which will also be continued this evening (Sunday 31st May) at the same venue in Vauxhall Street.

Around three hundred visitors gathered around the stall run by Akbar Mosque Slave Island to take their pick of free Islamic literature provided by CIS Harmony Center, NIDA Foundation and All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama and to get their names done in beautiful Arabic Calligraphy.

Asiff Hussein, Vice President-Outreach, CIS Harmony Center thanked Aslam Othman of the Colombo Mosque Federation which organized the event for kindly inviting CIS to participate and Sheikh Hakeem Ahamed for single-handedly running the Calligraphy Corner.

He stressed that CIS Harmony Center welcomed interfaith events of this nature and would certainly participate in similar events in future, insha Allah.

MOSQUE TOUR FOR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS AT MUHIHADDIN MOSQUE, DICKWELLA

A Mosque Tour for Teachers and Students was held today at Muhiyaddin Mosque in Dickwella. The Mosque Tour was organised by United Guys of Dickwella supported by the Centre for Islamic Studies Harmony Center.

The Mosque Tour was conducted by Umair Mihraj, Hassan Ahamed and Rashadh Riyaj, all of Tanweer Academy and the Calligraphy by Azam Abdus Salam (Fathihi)

Asiff Hussein, Vice President, Outreach, CIS Harmony Center which produced the posters and provided the literature said that they were very pleased with the activities of the Dickwella youth in continuing their Mosque Tour Program and promised all support in future for Dickwella and any other Youth Teams wishing to start Mosque Tours in their respective areas.

"CIS HARMONY CENTER" AT "SALAM RAMADAN 2026".

Dear all,

Sharing a few scenes from the CIS Harmony Center stall which participated in the "Salam Ramadan 2026" event held last evening (27 instant).

Besides a Poster walkthrough incorporated into the stall, we also dispensed free Islamic literature and offered calligraphy services at a very nominal cost.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the three-day event, which will continue today (Saturday, 28th instant) and tomorrow (Sunday, 1st March).
