GRANDEST MOSQUE TOUR OF THE YEAR!
Yet another very successful "Welcome to our Mosque" Program took place at Galgamuwa's Al Azhar Grand Mosque yesterday.
The Mosque Tour was organised by the Centre for Islamic Studies Harmony Center in association with the Trustees of the Mosque and Muslim Women's Research and Action Forum supported by Diakonia.
Around 1400 visitors of other faiths attended the event including local government officials, public officers from the AGA's Office, police personnel, legal profession, school teachers and students and others from all walks of life.
The Mosque Tour included a Guided Tour of the Mosque, Prayer demonstrations, Islam Q & A, Poster Walkthrough, Book Corner, Henna Corner, Traditional Muslim Dress and Hijab try-on Corner, Free Calligraphy of Visitors' names, and Serving of Traditional Muslim Foods.
Asiff Hussein, Vice President, Outreach, CIS Harmony Center observed that the Mosque Tour was extremely successful and reached numbers well beyond what they anticipated.
He especially thanked the Honourable Deputy Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs, Sheikh Muneer Mulaffer for gracing the occasion as Lead Mosque Tour Guide and the team of Mosque Tour Guides headed by Mohamed Fawaz and team of Calligraphists including Mahdie Mackeen, Ahamed Hakeem and Azeem Aboobucker.
He also thanked the Trustees of Al Azhar Masjid and especially the President of the Board of Trustees Udumalebbe Mohideen and Trustees Udumalebbe Haris and Noor Mohamed Hafiz for a great job done, Interfaith Activist Mohamed Kamaldeen for facilitating the meeting with the Trustees, Jamiah Naleemiah and Haqqaniya Arabic College for their continued support in providing volunteers for the Mosque Tour and Calligraphists and the sponsors of the event, the Muslim Women's Research and Action Forum supported by Diakonia.
