The SkillUp Sri Lanka – Modern Career Guidance and Skill Development Awareness Program was successfully held on 21st and 24th July 2026 at Muslim Ladies College, Colombo 04, engaging students who had recently completed their O/L examinations and were preparing to transition into A/L studies.
The session inspired students to identify their strengths, align their passions with appropriate A/L subject selections, and approach their A/L studies as a strategic pathway toward their future careers. Special emphasis was placed on making informed academic decisions aligned with the evolving demands of today’s technology-driven job market.
The program was conducted by Mr. Dian Baduge, Director of the Future Lanka Research & Development Foundation, who highlighted the importance of staying updated on global career trends, industry developments, and the essential skills needed to thrive in the future workforce.
Adding practical insights, Ms. Anjalie Gamage, Senior Lecturer / Head of Academic Affairs at Curtin Colombo; Prof. Dhanushka Udayanga, Head of the Department of Applied Science, Faculty of Humanities & Sciences at Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT); Mr. Krishnadeva Kesavan, Lecturer and Head of the Department of Cyber Security at Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology; Mr. Shehan Wijesundara, Head of Culinary at Australasian Academy; and Mr. Manjula Bathiya Wickramasinghe, Director – Member Relations at the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka, shared engaging case studies from their respective fields, emphasizing the importance of understanding emerging career opportunities across diverse sectors.
