“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” — Helen Keller

Happy Birthday to our dear Sir, a guiding light who has not only taught us language, but also the deeper rhythm of life itself.

In your presence, lessons became reflections—of patience, purpose, and growth. You remind us that education is not merely about words, but about learning how to live with thoughtfulness and grace.

May your year ahead be as profound and beautiful as the wisdom you share, and may you continue to illuminate many more lives with your knowledge and kindness. Grateful to learn from the greatest!

With sincere gratitude and admiration, we wish you a very Happy Birthday! ✨

Food Stall 2026, the signature annual gourmet experience offered by The English Literary Association of The Department of Languages brought the SUSL academic community together, Tuesday 17th.
Timeless delicacies, from hot hamburgers to cooling coffee delights, with fruity flavours in-between, were on offer!

The English Literary Association wishes to thank profusely all those who encouraged us through tireless efforts, companionship and participation, especially the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages Professor Rohan Abeywickrama, Head, Languages, Dr. Champa S. de Silva, and Assistant Registrar, FSSL, Mrs. Yashodha Chandrasekara. The warmth of togetherness offered by our academic colleagues from China, India and Japan added a truly international dimension to the event, so a big thank you to them! We take a bow in offering our gratitude to all members of the Academic Staff who strengthened us through their participation.

We acknowledge with warmth the timely assistance offered by Mrs. Sharmila Samaraweera, Mr. Chamith Janaka Bandara, Mr. W.R. Premarathna and Mr. Oshadha Galhena of our Non-academic Staff. And, as always, thanks and cheers to our student participants; as Kipling says, “yours is the Earth, and everything that’s in it.”
The ELA hopes to bring you together with other delightful creative endeavours during the months ahead!
