BUDS 24.02.2026 -
Today marks a meaningful milestone for the Batticaloa Underprivileged Development Society as we proudly donated a Baby Warmer worth Rs. 1,580,000 to Palukamam Hospital.
The equipment was officially handed over to the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) and will be installed at the relevant hospital in the coming days.
This donation reflects our continued commitment to improving maternal and newborn healthcare services in our community. We believe this baby warmer will play a vital role in saving and protecting the lives of newborns who need special care.
We extend our sincere thanks to BUDS UK team and our donor Mr.Nesan Markandu (UK), who supported and contributed to making this initiative a success. Together, we are making a difference. BUDS - BT President Sylvester, Treasurer Sasitharan , Exco members Dr.Sri, Mrs.Balashanmugam , and RDHS officials present at the event.

12TH FEBRUARY 2026
DONATION OF MATERNITY KITS
We are proud to share that BUDS Batticaloa donated maternity kits worth Rs. 335,000 to the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS), Batticaloa, for distribution among needy mothers in MOH divisions across the district.

A total of 50 maternity kits were handed over to support and uplift expectant mothers in our community.

The donation was officially handed over in the presence of Dr. R.Muraleeswaran, Director of RDHS Batticaloa, and Mr.I.J.Sylvester, President of BUDS Batticaloa.

We remain committed to serving our community and supporting those in need.

BUDS recently organized a successful family get-together for our members, fostering a sense of community and togetherness. Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony at Savukady Village, Batticaloa.
BUDS successful done a laying of foundation stone for a new house at Savukady Village, Batticaloa Sri Lanka, for one of our selected beneficiaries in our ongoing BUDS housing project. The event was honored by the presence of a special donor from the UK, Mr. Vanithasan Navaretnam, who participated as the Chief Guest,
The project and the ceremony were led by Mr. Sylvester Ignatius, President of BUDS Batticaloa (BUDS BT), with the active participation of BUDS BT members, whose dedication and coordination ensured the smooth ex*****on of the event.
We sincerely appreciate the continued support of BUDS UK and our donors, whose generosity enables us to create meaningful and lasting impact within the community. This foundation stone symbolizes hope, progress, and a shared commitment to improving lives in Savukady Village.

Supporting Families Affected by Extreme Weather
BUDS UK and Batticaloa, in coordination with theVerugal Divisional Secretariat provided dry rations worth Rs. 4,500 each to 100 person with disabilities families affected by the recent extreme weather conditions in Verugal Divisions.

A sincere thank you to all partners and volunteers who worked together to bring relief to the community during this difficult time.

11.12.2025 - Farewell & Best Wishes.

A heartfelt farewell program was organized by BUDS to honor and celebrate the students who are leaving the hostel by the BUDS after completing their A/L examination. In special mention the above education program sponsored and started by BUDS in 2017.

This special gathering was filled with warm memories, gratitude, and encouragement as we bid goodbye to our outgoing students. Your dedication, friendship, and contributions have left a lasting mark on our hostel family.
