A proud milestone for our YMCA youth journey 🙌
Last year, with the leadership of Mr. S. Patrick, our YMCA took part in a national project by UNFPA with support from the Government of Canada. After completing a 5-day training on preventing gender-based violence, we developed and successfully implemented an 8-month youth-led project—earning official recognition for its impact.

This year, we’re taking it further. Our Youth Secretary, Mr. M. Jenned, has completed advanced training in behavior change communication, and we’re proud that the second phase of this program has been awarded exclusively to our YMCA.
This is more than a project—it’s about empowering youth, building leadership, and creating safer communities together 💙

A Glimpse of our Dental Treatment Camp was held at the Rainbow Campus, Kalkudah. The camp was organized by the foreign friends of Mr. L. S. Karunaharan, who has been continuously supporting the students of the Vaalvosai School.

On this day, our students participated in the program and benefited from both dental check-ups and treatment, as well as awareness on proper dental hygiene and care.

On behalf of the YMCA, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. L. S. Karunaharan for organizing this valuable opportunity for our students. Your continued support and dedication to the wellbeing of our children are greatly appreciated.

The National Council of YMCAs successfully organized a Camping & Hiking Program on 21st March 2026 at Loolkandura Tea Estate, Kandy.

We are proud to share that two youth representatives from Batticaloa YMCA actively participated in this enriching program. 🌿🏕️

This initiative is part of a continuous effort to develop youth skills and leadership. The participants will share their valuable experiences with other young members, and we look forward to organizing similar programs locally in the future.

👏 Our sincere appreciation goes to them for their participation, and we wish them continued success in their future activities!

Abishan Ashley, Youth representative representing YMCA Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, participated in the Carbon Auditors Workshop held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, from 9th to 14th December 2025. The program brought together YMCA policymakers, Secretaries, and Youth Representatives from various National YMCAs, fostering regional collaboration and shared learning.

Aligned with the YMCA Vision 2030 goals, the workshop focused on enhancing carbon efficiency across YMCA movements, strengthening collective action towards a sustainable and climate-resilient future.
