A sensory room was inaugurated on Wednesday, 17th June 2026, under the enAble Sri Lanka project implemented by the Dutch-Lanka Friendship Foundation in collaboration with government schools, for the Special Education Unit of Am/Kavantissa Maha Vidyalaya.
This is a room with a safe environment specially designed to stimulate or calm children's vision, hearing, touch, balance and body movements.
This sensory room functions as a unique therapeutic space that heals the mind and body of children.

The event was attended by the founder of the Dutch-Lanka Friendship Foundation, Mrs. Kirsten Giethoorn, Mrs. Karianne, Country Director Mr. Leon Lawrence, and other DLFF staff, the Assistant Director of the Non-Formal Unit of the Ampara Zonal Education Unit, Mr. Lankaratne, and In service advisors, the Principal Mr. Thilak Chandana, the Occupational Therapist of the Ampara General Hospital, Ms. Dilukshi Senadheera, and the Special Education Unit, Ms. Shanika Dissanayake, and the teaching staff.

විශේෂ අවශ්‍යතා සහිත දරුවන්ගේ අධ්‍යාපන සහ කුසලතා සංවර්ධනය වෙනුවෙන් පවත්වාගෙන ගිය මෙම ඒකකය, වඩාත් නවීන හා පහසුකම් සහිත ස්ථානයක් ලෙස ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය කර මෙලෙස සිසු අයිතියට පත් කෙරිණි.

මෙම විශේෂ අධ්‍යාපන ඒකකය සඳහා අවශ්‍ය ප්‍රවේශ පහසුකම් සහ ප්‍රවේශ පහසුකම් සහිත සම්බන්ධිත නාන කාමර පහසුකම් ද ලබා දෙන ලදී. මේ සඳහා

Under the "enAble Sri Lanka" project implemented by the Dutch Lanka Friendship Foundation, the renovated second Special Education Unit was ceremonially opened on 27.04.2026 at Am/Sirisanda Vidyalaya, Polwatta.

This unit, which was maintained for the education and skill development of children with special needs, was renovated as a more modern and well-equipped place and was opened to the students.

The necessary accessible facilities and attached accessible bathroom facilities were also provided for this special education unit. For this,

Dutch-Lanka Friendship Foundation විසින් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරනු ලබන enAble Sri Lanka ව්‍යාපෘතිය යටතේ සංවිධානය කළ සිංහල-දෙමළ අන්තර්කරණ අවුරුදු උත්සවය පසුගිය අප්‍රේල් 26 වන දින අම් /දිවුලාන විදුහල් පරිශ්‍රයේදී ඉතා උත්කර්ෂවත් අන්දමින් පැවැත්විණි.

මෙයට,මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය හා සම්බන්ධ සියලු පාසල් එනම්,අම් /දිවුලාන විදුහල, අම්/කාවන්තිස්ස මහා විදුහල, අම්/පොල්වත්ත සිරසඳ විදුහල, අම්/හිඟුරාණ විදුහල යන පාසල් සමඟ අම්/ උහන කනිටු විදුහල සහ කච්චකුඩි දෙමළ විදුහලේ දරුවන් දෙමව්පියන් සහ ආචාර්ය මණ්ඩලය සහභාගි විය.

මෙහි මූලික අරමුණ වූයේ ආබාධිත අන්තර්කරණය, සම්ප්‍රදායික අවුරුදු ක්‍රීඩා සහ සංස්කෘතික අංග ඉදිරියට ගෙනයාම සහ ගුරු සිසු සහ දෙමව්පියන් අතර පවතින සුහදතා වර්ධනය කිරීම තුළින් එකිනෙකා අතර සහයෝගීතාවය සහ සංස්කෘතික බැඳීම වර්ධනය කිරීමයි. දෙමළ පාසලක් හා සම්බන්ධ වීමෙන් ජාතීන් අතර අන්තර්කරණයද පිළිබිඹු විය.

සියළු දෙනාගේ සහභාගිත්වයෙන් යුතුව ඉතා සාර්ථක අන්දමින් උත්කර්ෂවත් ලෙස මෙය පැවැත්වීමට හැකියාව ලැබුණි .

The Sinhala-Tamil Inclusive New Year Event organized under the enAble Sri Lanka project by the Dutch-Lanka Friendship Foundation was held on the 26th of April at the premises of Am /Divulana Vidyalaya.

All schools involved in the project-Am/Divulana Vidyalaya, Am/Kavantissa Maha Vidyalaya, Am/Polwatte Sirasanda Vidyalaya, Am/Hingurana Vidyalaya, Am/Uhana Kanitu Viduhala, and Kachchakudi Tamil Vidyalaya-actively participated, together with their students, parents, and teachers.

The main objective of this was to promote disability inclusion, traditional New Year games and cultural elements and to develop the existing friendship between teachers, students and parents, thereby promoting cooperation and cultural ties. By associating with a Tamil school, integration between the races was also reflected.

This was inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of Social Security and Community Empowerment, Hon. Wasantha Piyatissa. The District Social Services Officer, District NGO Coordination Officer, officers of the Ampara Zonal Education Office, heads of security forces, principals and teachers of the participating schools and parents and DLFF staff participated.

With the participation of everyone, this was held in a very successful and grand manner.

ඩච්-ලංකා ආයතනයේ නව ව්‍යාපෘතියක් ලෙස enAble Sri Lanka ව්‍යාපෘතිය යටතේ ආරම්භ කරන පළමු විශේෂ අධ්‍යාපන ඒකකයේ සමාරම්භක උත්සවය, අම් දිවුලාන විද්‍යාලයේදී දෙසැම්බර් මස 13 වන දින පවත්වන ලදී.

මෙය එම විද්‍යාලයේ දරුවන් සහ විශේෂ අධ්‍යාපන ඒකකයේ දරුවන්ගේ ප්‍රාසාංගික අංගවලින් ද සමන්විත විය.

*enAble Sri Lanka Project Launch Ceremony*

The inauguration ceremony of the first Special Education Unit, which is being started under the *enAble Sri Lanka* project, as a new project of the Dutch-Lanka Friendship Foundation, was held at Am Diwuulana Vidyalaya on Februa 13th.

This included performances by the children of the school and the children of the Special Education Unit.
It was attended by the founder of the Dutch-Lanka Friendship Foundation, Mrs. Kirsten, the secretary of Friendship Foundation, Member of Parliament Manjula Ratnayake, Ampara District Secretary, Director of the Special Education Unit of the Ampara Zonal Education Office, Director of Ampara Divisional Education, NGO Coordinator, Grama Niladhari, OIC of Police, the school principal, internal staff, management and staff of the Dutch-Lanka Friendship Foundation, parents, children and The local residents participated.

It was carried out with great enthusiasm with the participation of everyone.

ඩච්-ලංකා ආයතනයේ නිර්මාතෘ කර්ස්ටන් මැතිනිය,එහි ලේකම්තුමිය, කමිටු සාමාජික,රාජ්‍ය නොවන සංවිධාන සම්බන්ධීකාරකතුමා,දිස්ත්‍රික් සමාජ සේවා නිලධාරී,ළමා හිමිකම් ප්‍රවර්ධන නිලධාරී තුමිය ඇතුළු ආරාධිත අමුත්තන් ද ඩච් ලංකා විශේෂ පාසලේ දරුවන් සහ දෙමව්පියන්ද කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයද මේ සඳහා සහභාගි විය.

මෙතෙක් කල් උදව් උපකාර කල සියලු දෙනාට ස්තුතියි කිරීම සහ දරුවන් සඳහා සහතික පත්‍ර සහ ත්‍යාග ප්‍රදානෝත්සවය මෙහිදී සිදු කරන ලදී

With the aim of starting the new project implemented by the Dutch-Lanka Friendship Foundation, the closing ceremony of the Dutch-Lanka Special School was held on 12th February 2026 at the Dutch-Lanka Friendship Foundation.

The founder of the Dutch-Lanka Friendship Foundation, Mrs. Kirsten, the secretary of Friendship Foundation, the NGO Coordinator, the District Social Service Officer, the Child Rights Promotion Officer, and invited guests, as well as the children, parents, and staff of the Dutch-Lanka Special School, participated in this event.

All those who have helped so far were thanked and the children were given a certificate and prizes during this function.

2025.12.24 වන දින *ඩච් ලංකා විශේෂ පාසල* තුළ දෙමව්පියන් සහ දරුවන්ගේ සහභාගිත්වයෙන් *ජාත්‍යන්තර ආබාධ සහිත පුද්ගලයන්ගේ දිනය* වෙනුවෙන් Creative Hands, චිත්‍ර නිර්මාණ වැඩසටහන සහ *නත්තල් දින සැමරුම* සිදු කරන ලදී.

එහිදී ගොනාගොල්ල ප්‍රදේශයේ පාසැල් දරුවන් 14 දෙනෙකු ඩච් ලංකා විශේෂ පාසලේ දරුවන් සමග එක්ව කණ්ඩායම් ගත වී ඉතා ක්‍රියාශීලීත්වයෙන් යුතුව චිත්‍ර නිර්මාණ එළි දැක්විණි. අනතුරුව,නත්තල් දිනය නිමිත්තෙන් දරුවන්ගේ සෞන්දර්යාත්මක ක්‍රියාකාරකම් සහ ත්‍යාග බෙදා දීම සිදු කරනලදී.

අම්පාර ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් කාර්යාලය නියෝජනය කරමින් *ළමා හිමිකම් ප්‍රවර්ධන නිළධාරී තුමිය* සහ *මනෝවිද්‍යා උපදේශන නිළධාරී තුමිය* යන දෙපළ සහ *රාජ්‍ය නොවන සංවිධාන සම්බන්ධීකරණ නිළධාරී* ඉර්ෆාන් මහතාද මේ සඳහා සම්බන්ධ විය.

*Creative Hands and Christmas Celebration*

On 24 December 2025, Dutch-Lanka Special School hosted the *𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲* in celebration of the *𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨* and Christmas. Children with and without disabilities came together to create, perform, and share joyful moments through art.

Held with the presence of District Child Rights Promotion Officer, Psychological Counseling Officer and the District NGO Coordinator, the event highlighted the power of creative expression, community support, and equal participation.

*When children create together, inclusion becomes real.*
