UN Global Compact Network Lebanon through the Ten Principles on human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption

The United Nations Global Compact Network Lebanon is one of the 60+ Local Networks around the world that operate through a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Global Compact HQ. We are an independent and self-managed entity with the unique mandate to provide direct support to UN Global Compact participants based in Lebanon and provide them with opportunities for learning, capacity building, awareness raising, policy dialogue, and partnerships on the Ten Principles of responsible conduct and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We help entities build a strong understanding of responsible business and activity within our national context and put their sustainability commitments into action as well as facilitate local connections with other stakeholders from businesses, NGOs, government, and academia.

Under what conditions can just transition measures be adopted and sustained in Lebanon?

UN Global Compact Network Lebanon is pleased to publish its new white paper, informed by the 2025 Peer Learning Group on Just Transition, which brought together 80 participants from the private sector, public institutions, academia, civil society, and development organisations.

Drawing on five thematic areas, the publication examines the institutional, financial, and economic conditions shaping implementation, identifies four cross-cutting findings, and sets out four priority actions to address the constraints affecting Lebanon’s just transition.

The analysis highlights the importance of moving beyond formal commitments towards practical implementation, while considering how the costs, risks, and opportunities of transition are distributed across different actors.

Building a strong understanding of greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting is an essential first step towards more effective emissions management and reporting.

As part of the Taking Action on GHG Emissions Learning Series, the first session on Foundations of Corporate GHG Accounting, will be facilitated by Rawad Massoud, Executive Managing Director at V4 Advisors.

This session will introduce the foundations of corporate greenhouse gas accounting and internationally recognised frameworks, including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions, inventory boundaries, and the basic logic behind greenhouse gas calculations.

Taking place from 12:00 to 13:00, the session will provide participants with the core knowledge and concepts that will be further explored through the practical training on 22 October.

Applications for the SDG Brain Lab v6.0 are now open!

Are you between 18 and 24 years old and passionate about sustainability, innovation, and creating meaningful change?
Join the SDG Brain Lab v6.0, a journey designed to equip young people with the knowledge, skills, networks, and practical experience to turn sustainability challenges into solutions.

From October 2026 to June 2027, participants will explore sustainability across its environmental,
social, and governance dimensions before moving into a hands-on social entrepreneurship journey, from identifying real-world challenges to developing and pitching solutions.

Through the programme, you will have the opportunity to:
● Build practical sustainability and entrepreneurship skills
● Learn from experts, companies, NGOs, and peers
● Develop solutions to real sustainability challenges
● Connect across the private, academic, civil society, and UN spheres
● Become eligible for the Ambassadors of Change initiative upon successful completion

Over its first five editions, the SDG Brain Lab has already impacted 1,800+ students, engaged 270+

Meet the organisations from Lebanon taking part in SPARK 2026.

Together, the organisations featured represent SPARK’s twofold reach in Lebanon: Network participants strengthening sustainability within their own operations, and seven companies extending the programme to suppliers across their value chains.

Over the course of the three-month programme, participants will build practical capabilities to strengthen their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, manage risks, and respond to growing buyer and investor expectations.

Reliving the highlights of the SDG Brain Lab Closing Ceremony.
