Your leftovers are not his food.

The Mediterranean monk seal is a wild marine mammal that survives by hunting fish and other natural prey. Feeding it even with leftovers can alter its natural behavior, make it dependent on humans, and expose it to illness and danger.

If you’re lucky enough to spot one along Lebanon’s coast, admire it from a distance and let it rest undisturbed.

He’s here to rest. Let’s keep it that way.

This awareness campaign is supported by the Monk Seal Alliance.

The Mediterranean monk seal is one of the world’s rarest marine mammals, and every quiet moment it finds on our shores is essential for its survival.

If you’re lucky enough to spot a Mediterranean monk seal, keep your distance. Don’t approach it, don’t try to touch it, don’t feed it, and don’t chase it into the water. Even with good intentions, human presence can cause stress and force the seal to abandon the safe places it depends on to rest.

The best way to help is simple: watch from afar and let it be. Respecting its space gives this endangered species the chance to survive and recover.

Your distance is its protection. Every responsible encounter makes a difference. 🌊🦭💙

Working for the recovery of the Mediterranean monk seal means working for the recovery of Lebanon’s marine environment.

As IndyACT Marine Program Coordinator, Alexander Kebbon reminds us that the presence of apex species like the Mediterranean monk seal is one of the strongest indicators of a healthy and balanced ecosystem. When these animals thrive, it reflects the health of the entire marine environment from coastal habitats to the communities that depend on them.

Every action we take to protect the monk seal also helps safeguard Lebanon’s biodiversity, fisheries, and natural heritage for future generations.

Let’s give this endangered species the space and protection it needs.

Don’t hurt them. Protect them. 💙🌊

The Mediterranean monk seal is one of the world's rarest marine mammals, and every moment of peace matters for its survival.

High-speed jet skis near the shoreline can disturb resting seals, separate mothers from their pups, and force them to abandon the quiet coastal areas they depend on. What may seem like harmless fun can have lasting consequences for one of the world's most endangered marine mammals.

By slowing down, keeping a safe distance from caves and rocky shores, and respecting wildlife, we can help ensure the Mediterranean monk seal continues to find refuge in our sea.

Every responsible ride makes a difference. 🌊🦭💙

The Mediterranean monk seal is one of the world's rarest marine mammals, yet it still calls our sea home. Every sighting is a powerful reminder that nature persists but only if we protect it.
Coastal development and construction along our shores are destroying the habitats these seals rely on to rest, breed, and raise their young. As their natural refuges disappear, their future becomes increasingly uncertain.
Protecting the Mediterranean monk seal means protecting our coastline. Give wildlife the space it needs, support conservation efforts, and help ensure these remarkable animals remain part of our sea for generations to come. 🌊🦭💙

**Marine Waste: One of the Biggest Threats to the Mediterranean Monk Seal**

Every piece of plastic or discarded waste that reaches the sea puts marine life at risk.

For the Mediterranean monk seal—one of the world's rarest marine mammals—marine litter is a growing threat. Plastic pollution and other waste can contaminate its habitat, lead to entanglement, and be accidentally ingested, affecting the seal's health and survival.

Keeping our beaches and seas clean is essential to protecting the monk seal, preserving marine biodiversity, and ensuring healthy ecosystems for future generations.

Every action matters. By reducing waste, disposing of litter responsibly, and protecting our coastline, we can all contribute to a cleaner, healthier Mediterranean Sea.

At IndyACT, we believe conservation and sustainable fisheries go hand in hand. Together, we can ensure a future where both people and nature flourish. 💙🌊

The Coast Guard: Protecting Those Who Have No Voice

Every patrol is more than a mission—it is a commitment to protecting Lebanon's marine life and natural heritage.

The Mediterranean monk seal cannot speak for itself, but every effort to protect its habitat gives it a chance to survive. Through vigilance, cooperation, and dedication, the Lebanese Coast Guard plays an important role in safeguarding our coastline and supporting the conservation of one of the world's rarest marine mammals.

Protecting the monk seal means protecting the health of our sea, the biodiversity it sustains, and the future of our coastal communities.

At IndyACT, we believe conservation and sustainable fisheries go hand in hand. Together, we can ensure a future where both people and nature flourish. 💙🌊
