Roots of Change
As part of its ongoing environmental awareness efforts, A’Risheh Environmental Center organized an interactive composting workshop, introducing students to the importance of transforming organic waste into nutrient-rich compost. Participants also built compost bins, putting their newly acquired knowledge into practice and encouraging more sustainable waste management.
Learning did not stop at the center—it reached the community. In collaboration with the Municipality of Baskinta, local schools, and community members, students brought their learning to life through the Green Street Initiative.
By planting olive trees and creating birdhouses, benches, and other eco-friendly installations from recycled and upcycled materials, participants transformed a street into a greener, more welcoming public space, contributing to its beautification while fostering a stronger sense of environmental stewardship.
Together, these activities encouraged participants to rethink waste, care for their environment, and discover how small collective actions can create lasting positive change—one green street at a time. 🌿💚
This initiative is implemented by ALPHA Association through its A’Risheh Environmental Center and in partnership with GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit). It is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
