The Lebanon Green Building Council (LGBC) is an NGO that provides stewardship towards a sustainable built environment. It promotes, spreads and helps implement high performance construction concepts that are environmentally responsible, healthy and profitable. The LGBC aims to become a leading non-profit organization working to promote the sustainable building industry of an international level. I

ts members will strongly advocate sustainable buildings in the aim of designing a built environment that allows future generations to benefit from the natural resources that will be available to them.

The tool is part of the Flexible Building Codes Framework project and aims to support collaborative, multi-stakeholder workshops for developing and implementing new or enhanced building energy codes, especially in emerging economies without mandatory codes.

Structured into four main sections:
* Building Code Needs: Why governments require updated energy codes (objectives: energy efficiency, carbon reduction, resilience).
* Building Code Measures: What technical and operational measures are prioritized.
* Building Policies and Codes: How government capabilities and policies support code development and implementation.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Who are the key individuals and organizations for successful code development.

On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Eng. Afif Nassim (Vice President, Lebanon GBC) and Eng. Toufic Assoum (Board Member, Lebanon GBC) will visit Al City University (Kaba Building โ€“ KG01, 1:00 PM) TRIPOLI to present the Lebanon Green Building Council and the ARZ 2.0 Building Rating System.
The visit will also mark the launch of a Lebanon GBC Student Chapter at the Faculty of Architecture and Design, a milestone made possible through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Lebanon GBC and Al City University.
This initiative aims to engage students in sustainable architecture, foster professional connections, and empower the next generation to lead Lebanonโ€™s green transition.
