In May, children and caregivers came together in Al Smoud Centre in Mar Elias Palestinian Camp to mark the successful completion of an emergency and psychosocial support project launched at the beginning of the year. This was achieved through private funds raised by Terre des Hommes Italia, and implemented in collaboration with the Women’s Humanitarian Organization (جمعية المرأة الخيرية Women's Humanitarian Organization - PWHO)

Through drawing, games, and group activities for children and adults, participants enjoyed a safe and welcoming space designed to promote well-being, reduce stress, and celebrate the positive impact of the project.

More than 75 participants took part in the event, sharing moments of laughter, creativity, and connection.
At the end of the gathering, psychosocial support kits were distributed to the children and personal hygiene kits to the women and the girls.

Following the successful distribution of more than 12,000 kits across Palestinian camps and gatherings in the Tyre area, UNICEF Lebanon, Terre des Hommes Italia, and partners, NISCVT, TADAMON, GUPW, and Najdeh, came together for an evaluation meeting to reflect on the emergency response initiative.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review the implementation process, share lessons learned, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and discuss recommendations for strengthening future distribution efforts.

It also created an open space for the 43 participants to exchange ideas, experiences, and suggestions to ensure more effective and inclusive humanitarian responses in the future.

During April and May, UNICEF Lebanon distributed more than 12,000 hygiene kits in Palestinian camps and gatherings in the Tyre area, with support from Terre des hommes Italy in Lebanon and other local partners: NAJDEH, TADAMON (S.A.S.C.D), GUPW, and NISCVT in collaboration with the popular committees.

Breastfeeding plays a vital role in protecting children’s health, supporting immune protection, and supporting healthy growth and development during the earliest stages of life.

In Ein El Helweh Camp, Terre des Hommes Italy, together with partners HDC, GUPW, and Tadamon, organized awareness sessions bringing together mothers and caregivers to learn about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of a child’s life, meaning breastmilk only, with no water or other foods or liquids unless medically advised.

The sessions also addressed common breastfeeding challenges, when and how to seek support, and safe complementary feeding practices starting at 6 months, while continuing breastfeeding up to 2 years or beyond.

Supported by UNICEF Lebanon, these sessions aimed to empower mothers and caregivers with the knowledge and supportive guidance needed to help children have a healthier and safer start in life.

Earlier in May, Terre des Hommes Italy, in collaboration with AVSI Middle East and North Africa and with the support of UNICEF Lebanon, organized Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) training sessions for working in Palestinian camps across .

Over the course of two days, participants explored key topics including in the workplace, recognizing signs of , and developing coping strategies for exceptional events and .

The training aimed to strengthen teachers’ wellbeing, while equipping them with practical tools to better navigate challenging situations in their professional and personal lives.
