(English below) 어제 국제전략센터에서는 피델의 탄생 100주년을 기념하여 영화 《피델: 알려지지 않은 이야기》 상영회를 열었습니다. 영화가 끝난 후, 우리 모두 각자 가장 마음에 드는 피델 사진을 들면서 “비바 쿠바!”를 외쳤습니다.

Yesterday, the ISC hosted a movie showing of "Fidel: The Untold Story" in commemoration of Fidel's 100th birthday. After the movie, we each held our favorite Fidel photo and chanted "Viva Cuba!"

이번 달은 쿠바 혁명의 지도자이자 20세기 세계사에서 반제·반식민 투쟁의 중심에 있었던 인물, 피델 카스트로 루스의 탄생 100주년입니다. 이를 기념하여 그의 삶과 업적, 그리고 기존 역사에서 잘 다뤄지지 않았던 쿠바 혁명의 이야기를 담은 다큐멘터리를 상영합니다.

FIDEL: THE UNTOLD STORY

This month marks 100 years since the birth of Fidel Castro Ruz, the revolutionary leader of Cuba and a key figure at the heart of the global anticolonial liberation struggles. On this occasion we present to you a documentary on the life and works of Fidel and tales of the Cuban Revolution omitted from traditional histories.

☢️ 81년 전, 미국은 히로시마(8월 6일)와 나가사키(8월 9일)에 원자폭탄을 투하했다. 이는 인류 역사상 전례 없는 규모의 폭력이었으며, 미국 군사 패권 시대의 시작을 알리는 사건이었다.
오늘날 미국은 국제원자력기구(IAEA)의 사찰을 받아 온 이란을 폭격하는 한편, 이스라엘은 가자지구에서 집단학살을 계속 자행하고 있다. 또한 이스라엘은 핵확산금지조약(NPT) 밖에서 핵무기를 보유하고 있음에도 아무런 국제적 감시를 받지 않는다. 사우디아라비아 역시 강화된 IAEA 사찰 없이 우라늄 농축을 허용받고 있다.

"아시아에서 손을 떼라: 주권과 연대를 위한 민중의 호소" 컨퍼런스에서 채택된 이 선언은 전쟁, 부채 예속, 정권교체 개입, 외세의 지배를 거부하고, 아시아 민중이 스스로 자신의 미래를 결정할 권리를 주장합니다. 또한 아시아 전역의 주권, 평화, 그리고 민중 연대를 위한 공동의 의지를 담고 있습니다.

The Colombo Declaration sets out a shared vision for an Asia free from imperialism. Adopted at the "Hands Off Asia: A People's Call for Sovereignty and Solidarity" conference, the declaration affirms the right of Asian peoples to determine their own future: free from war, debt bo***ge, regime change, foreign domination, and committed to sovereignty, peace, and peoples' solidarity across the continent.

미국의 장기적인 봉쇄와 군사적 위협 속에서도 쿠바는 주권을 지키고 민중의 삶을 보장하기 위한 투쟁을 이어가고 있습니다. 최근에는 새로운 경제정책을 발표하고, 에너지 주권 강화를 위해 재생에너지로의 전환도 적극 추진하고 있습니다.

이번 행사에서는 주한 쿠바대사관의 파트리샤 플레치야 프로메타 참사관과 피플스포럼의 마놀로 데 로스 산토스 활동가를 초청해 쿠바의 새로운 경제정책과 재생에너지 전환, 그리고 전 세계에서 펼쳐지고 있는 쿠바 연대운동을 함께 살펴봅니다.

Beyond the Crisis: Cuba's Economic Reforms, Renewable Energy, and Solidarity

Despite the U.S. blockade and ongoing military threats, Cuba continues to defend its sovereignty and guarantee its people’s well-being. Recently, it announced economic reforms and a renewable energy transition to strengthen its national sovereignty.

We’ll be joined by Patricia Flechilla Frómeta, Counselor from the Embassy of Cuba and Manolo De Los Santos from the People's Forum to explore Cuba's new economic policies, its renewable energy transition, and the solidarity movement around the world.

We warmly invite all those who stand in solidarity with Cuba against the blockade and Trump’s military threats.
