Why Volunteer?

Volunteerism is the heartbeat of a strong community. It’s more than just "giving back", it’s about creating a ripple effect of positive change.

When you donate your time, you aren't just filling a gap; you’re building a bridge between people and providing support where it's needed most.

To our wonderful Ara,

Today, the Rootline family says a very bittersweet farewell to our founding circle lead, Ara.

Ara has been the driving force behind the Hook & Needle Society, leading us with a blend of grace and success that is rare to find. More than a leader, she has been the role model, showing us all the true meaning of community and genuine human connection.

We are so incredibly grateful for the foundation you built and the kindness you shared. While we will miss your presence dearly, we are so excited to see where your journey takes you next.

Thank you for everything, Ara, we’re wishing you all the joy in the world!

To our Rootline Family,

We know it’s been quiet lately, but we haven’t been idle. We’ve been restructuring and realigning to ensure that Rootline doesn’t just add to the noise, but truly fills the gaps in our community.

We aren't here to copy; we’re here to create a unique impact that lasts. We have emerged from this season stronger, more focused, and ready to lead.

Thank you for your patience and for believing in our mission. We can’t wait to show you what’s coming next.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧. 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙚𝙙.

With Love,

Running a grassroots nonprofit means sitting in rooms where the conversations aren't always comfortable. Budget calls. Program direction. Accountability. Things that actually matter and sometimes come with tension.

But here's what makes it work- we invest in each other outside of those rooms too. Monthly board bonding. Families included. No agenda, just trust being built over good food and honest conversation.

You can't have hard conversations with people you don't trust. And you can't build community if your own team isn't solid first. So we make sure ours is.

This month we enjoyed it at Check out their new Brunch offerings!

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Portfolio Refresh Event! ✨📸
Spending the day helping people update LinkedIn, take new headshots, talk career goals, and build confidence reminded me exactly why I love the work I do.

For so many of us — military spouses, career shifters, job seekers, new professionals — showing up professionally can feel intimidating. Yesterday felt supportive, encouraging, and full of “oh wow, I actually CAN do this” moments.

Huge thank-you to:
📸 Lalita Murphy — for making everyone feel comfortable and seen
👏 the volunteers who helped everything run smoothly
💼 every single person who trusted the process and showed up for themselves

I can’t wait to see these headshots on LinkedIn feeds, applications, and new opportunities.

And — because staying connected matters — we launched a new space to keep the momentum going:

👉 MISSION SK | Career Network
A private, career-focused community to share job leads, network during PCS moves, and support one another.

If you were at the event (or part of our programs), you’re invited to join us:

If we took a photo together, tag me — I want to cheer you on. And if you missed this one, more events are coming. 🤍
