Cambodia Rural Students Trust - CRST

Cambodia Rural Students Trust - CRST CRST is dedicated to breaking the poverty cycle through education. Since 2011 we have been sponsoring bright students from poor rural families.

Our mentorship and life-skills training form the foundation of an empowered life and social contribution. Breaking the poverty cycle through education is the fastest way to help people all over the world out of poverty - by teaching them how to fish, rather than just giving them fish. CRST is developing Cambodia's future leaders. Since 2011, Cambodia Rural Students Trust has been sponsoring studen

ts from rural Cambodia to study at high school and university - the first for many in the villages they come from....

The NGO is managed on the ground in Cambodia by our senior students’ who are mentored in managing the organisation as well as the 6 social enterprise Projects which address community needs. Founded in 2011 by the Palti family from Melbourne, Australia, the Cambodia Rural Students Trust (CRST) is a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) registered with the Cambodian Interior Ministry. Our NGO sponsors our students’ education, health and dental care, life-skill courses and monthly living allowances. Being sponsored to study also means being part of the NGO family, a support system and hands-on learning experience in itself. Our students are mentored daily in leading and managing the NGO and our Social Enterprise Projects. The Australian entity, Cambodia Rural Students Foundation is an Australian Government registered Tax Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR). Cambodia Rural Students Foundation Inc is a US Government registered public charity under IRS code section 501(c)(c3). WHY WE ARE UNIQUE
- 100% of donations are used for education, mentoring and community projects. All admin costs are covered by corporate sponsors and we are externally audited pro-bono.
- CRST sponsors our students education, health and dental care, life skill courses and monthly living allowances
- All students contribute back to the community with regular volunteer commitments

Project L-Light for Education proudly announces our new management team - Miss. Sreypeou Mao and Miss. Kimsiev Rong! πŸŽ‰πŸŒŸ

We are excited to begin this meaningful journey together, united by a shared vision of empowering the next generation through education. With your support, we are committed to inspiring children in rural areas, empower them by a small light that can change their life.

Through the distribution of SolarBuddy study lights, we aim to bring hope, opportunity, and brighter futures to students who face challenges in accessing reliable electricity. This initiative is more than just providing light - it’s about creating a pathway for knowledge, growth, and possibility.

We look forward to working hand in hand with all of you to make a lasting impact, transforming lives one light at a time.πŸ’›

Big excitement ahead! Here’s our sports activity for this month! βœ¨πŸŽ‰πŸ₯°

From time to time, we always bring our students to have and experience something new. So, his month we headed to The Water Park Khnar Siem Reap for a fun-filled swimming session, and the excitement was truly unforgettable.

Throughout the morning, we prepared engaging team-building games and shared delicious snacks together. Swimming is one of the most beloved activities, especially during the hot season.

Having this special opportunity, our CRST students not only enjoyed refreshing moments in the water but also strengthened their teamwork, confidence, and connection with one another. Laughter, joy, and positive energy were everywhere, making this activity more than just a sport, it became a meaningful experience for everyone involved.

We are truly grateful to create such memorable moments together and look forward to bringing even more exciting and enriching activities to our students in the future! πŸŒŠπŸ’™

Before SolarBuddy.org, nights were dark, and studying was hard for Punleur and his family. Candles created smoke, and they often ran out of light.
Now with their SolarBuddy light, Punleur’s home is bright, safe, and full of hope.

Happy Royal Ploughing Ceremony!

This special day marks the beginning of the farming season in Cambodia. It highlights the importance of agriculture and brings hope for a good harvest.

During the ceremony, the oxen choose different foods. Khmer people believe this can predict the weather and crop yields for the year!

Let’s celebrate our rich culture and honor the farmers who help feed the nation.πŸ’š

From a floating village on Tonle Sap Lake to becoming a confident young leader. πŸ’›

Sokny grew up in extreme poverty, traveling by boat and walking long distances to reach school. She studied through hunger, left to work to support her family, then made a promise to herself to return and never give up.

In Grade 9, she joined CRST - a turning point for her future.

Today, Sokny studies International Relations, leads across multiple student teams, and gives back to rural communities through education and service.

Together, we are breaking the cycle of poverty through education. πŸŽ“

Happy International Labor Day!🌎🌟

Today we honour the hard work and dedication of workers everywhere, especially those in our communities whose daily efforts create brighter futures for their families. From farmers and builders to teachers, sewing teams, drivers, and community workers, every role matters.

At CRST, we also celebrate the determination of our students who work hard to build better futures through education and service. Their commitment reminds us that hard work, opportunity, and dignity can create lasting change.

Thank you to all workers who help communities grow stronger every day.β€οΈπŸ—οΈ
