A beautiful event with great performances to promote the time when the country becomes green thanks to more rain and moisture. A wonderful time every year to explore the country!

Thank you to RFI ខេមរភាសា / RFI Khmer for sharing the concerns about noise and light pollution during Walk Street and other events on Sisowath Quay. A problem for everyone - lets enjoy Walk Street and the riverside together, peacefully, with the best of Khmer culture, food and love - promoting our country on international standard and with respect to everyone 🙏🙏🥰😘

Noise noise noise... Tourists try to watch a traditional Khmer dance performance in a restaurant that invests a lot to promote Khmer culture 🙄🤔. Instead, they hear electronic and hip hop music from a concert stage, many promotions and small concerts - and run away.

All of these sounds are within 100 meters of each other.

Everyone brings their own "entertainment" and amplified sound systems and promote their offers. Is this how មន្ទីរទេសចរណ៍រាជធានីភ្នំពេញ - Phnom Penh Tourism Department and Overseas Marketing & Promotion Department, Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia want to promote our modern, international standard Phnom Penh?

For already 3 days and nights (iron trusses being thrown on the floor and against each other until early morning) industrial-scale stages and sound systems are being built, with huge trucks blocking the Riverside promenade and views.

The situation is getting out of control.

Every weekend, Sisowath Quay is turned into a closed zone with loud music from 5 pm to 11 pm and sound checks from early morning on wards. What was meant as an attraction is now pushing away customers, blocking access to hotels and restaurants, and making normal life impossible for residents.

Local businesses are losing revenue. Tourists and guests can’t reach their destinations. Many of them wonder what is happening here.

People living here are forced to endure constant noise and light pollution Ministry of Environment

We are for Walk Street — and are asking for balance, access, and respect for those who live and work here. We have sent letters to City Hall to ask for dialogue multiple times without reaction.

These enormous commercial concert stages used to be in non-residential areas of the city, on squares (Koh Pich) that face the Mekong river. Now they are in front of residents' houses. A concert of this scale will break all noise and sound records.
