56 years ago, we started our work in Cambodia by providing humanitarian assistance during a time of great need. World Vision International led a convoy carrying medicine and emergency supplies to Phnom Penh and launched one of its first initiatives to support the construction of the National Pediatric Hospital.

Through decades of history, our core promise has remained the same: to protect and empower Cambodia’s most vulnerable children and families.

Yesterday, World Vision Cambodia was honoured to engage in a courtesy meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, reaffirming a long-standing partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia built on shared commitment to the wellbeing of children and communities.

Through this trusted collaboration, World Vision contributed to reaching over 5 million people, including over 3 million children in 2025, supporting national priorities in health and nutrition, WASH, inclusive education, and child protection, while also strengthening local governance and public service delivery in partnership with national and sub-national institutions.

H.E. Kan Pharidh, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, expressed strong appreciation for World Vision’s contributions to the Cambodian people from 1970 to the present, recognising the organisation as a committed partner that has consistently worked alongside the Royal Government in advancing support to children and communities nationwide.

The discussion also highlighted joint humanitarian efforts, including support to communities affected by the recent border situation, reaching over 140,000 internally displaced people, including children and pregnant and lactating mothers.

As World Vision International Cambodia marks 56 years of serving Cambodian children, we remain committed to deepening this partnership to reach 5 million boys and girls by 2027 and contribute to Cambodia’s Vision 2030.

Training Workshop on Implementing Social Accountability to Enhance Library Standards, Child Protection, and Climate Change Effectiveness

April 23–24, 2026 – At the Angkor Paradise Hotel in Siem Reap Province, World Vision International Cambodia organized a training workshop on the implementation of social accountability to improve efficiency regarding library standards, child protection, and climate change. The workshop aimed to deepen understanding, strengthen staff capacity, and enhance the quality and sustainability of development programs in target areas.

A total of 83 participants attended, representing 14 Area Development Programs (ADP) across the provinces of Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, and Siem Reap—key regions for program implementation.

Throughout the training, participants gained vital knowledge and skills, including:
-Deepening understanding of the Implementation of Social Accountability Framework (ISAF) principles and standards.
-Strategies for integrating these specific programs into local development plans.
-Utilizing tools and data to track progress and evaluate outcomes.
-Encouraging community participation and promoting public accountability.

The session also featured group discussions, experience sharing, and practical exercises designed to bridge the gap between theory and daily professional application.

By the conclusion of this workshop, it is expected that participants will be able to effectively execute activities through social accountability mechanisms. This will ensure high efficiency in program delivery, ultimately contributing to the improvement of local livelihoods and the long-term sustainable development of the community.

Today marks the official launch of “Improve Primary Education Quality and Advance Children’s Learning and Teaching in Rural Cambodia (IMPACT) project, funded by the Government of Japan through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, was officially signed today to support the education of more than 2,400 primary school students in six primary schools in Kampong Svay district, Kampong Thom province.

The project will focus on:
✨ Strengthening teacher capacity through teacher training programs and additional lessons based on learning assessments
🏫 Improving the learning environment through school renovations and the provision of new facilities
🌐 Providing learning equipment and digital teaching resources

Through this project, we aim to create better opportunities for children to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.

ពីមុន សិស្សានុសិស្សមកសាលារៀនដោយមានការព្រួយបារម្ភអំពីសុវត្ថិភាពរបស់ពួកគេ ដោយសារអគារសិក្សារបស់ពួកគេស្ថិតក្នុងស្ថានភាពទ្រុឌទ្រោម។ នាពេលថ្មីៗនេះ អ្វីៗបានផ្លាស់ប្រែ។

ជាមួយនឹងការសម្ពោធអគារសិក្សាថ្មីដែលមាន ១០ ថ្នាក់រៀននៅស្រុកបុរីជលសា ឥឡូវនេះសិស្សានុសិស្សបានមកសាលារៀនដោយស្នាមញញឹម ទំនុកចិត្ត និងភាពរីករាយក្នុងការរៀនសូត្រ។

Before, students came to school worried about their safety, as their school buildings were in dilapidated condition. Recently, everything has changed. ✨

With the inauguration of a new 10-classroom school building in Borei Chulsa, students now arrive with smiles, confidence, and excitement to learn. Teachers can focus on teaching in a safe and supportive environment, while children are more motivated and committed to their education.

This transformation was made possible through the support of World Vision International Cambodia and the generous funding of Hirose Tusyo Inc.. The new school building is opening the door to brighter futures for 430 students in Takeo Province.

នៅឆ្នាំ ១៩៧៥ នៅពេលដែលវិបត្តិមនុស្សធម៌កាន់តែធ្ងន់ធ្ងរ អង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោក បានចាប់ផ្តើម "ប្រតិបត្តិការលើកកម្ពស់ក្តីស្រលាញ់" ដើម្បីដឹកជញ្ជូនស្បៀងដែលត្រូវការជាបន្ទាន់ចំនួន ៧៥០ តោនជារៀងរាល់ថ្ងៃ ដើម្បីគាំទ្រដល់ចំនួនប្រជាជនដែលកំពុងកើនឡើងយ៉ាងឆាប់រហ័សនៅទីក្រុងភ្នំពេញ។ ក្រោយមក កម្មវិធីរបស់យើងត្រូវបានបញ្ឈប់ទាំងស្រុងក្នុងរបបខ្មែរក្រហម។ អង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោក ជាអង្គការអន្តរជាតិដំបូងបង្អស់គេបង្អស់ដែលវិលមកវិញបន្ទាប់ពីរបបខ្មែរក្រហមដួលរលំ នៅឆ្នាំ ១៩៧៩ ដើម្បីជួយកសាងប្រទេសកម្ពុជាឡើងវិញ ស្តារសេវា មូលដ្ឋាន គាំទ្រកសិកម្ម និងការស្តារឡើងវិញនូវសេវាសុខភាពសំខាន់ៗ ។

Have you ever wondered who first brought World Vision to Cambodia and how the journey started?

The story began in 1970, when Cambodia made an international appeal for humanitarian assistance during a time of great need. Responding to that call, then World Vision International President Dr. Stan Mooneyham led a convoy of medicine and emergency supplies to Phnom Penh, marking the very first presence of World Vision International in Cambodia.

In 1975, as the humanitarian crisis continues to worsen, World Vision launched “Operation Lovelift” to transport 750 tons of urgently needed food each day to support the city’s rapidly growing population in the capital. After programmes were forced to stop during the Khmer Rouge period, World Vision returned in 1979 to help rebuild Cambodia—restoring basic services, supporting agriculture, and rehabilitating key health facilities.

This year, as we celebrate 56 years in Cambodia, World Vision continues partnering with communities, government partners, donors, and relevant partners to create sustainable change in education, health, child protection, livelihoods, and climate resilience—helping children experience life in all its fullness.

តើអ្នកដឹងទេថាអ្នកណាជាស្ថាបនិកនៃអង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោកអន្តរជាតិ ហើយយើង បានចាប់ផ្តើមដោយរបៀបណា?

រឿងរ៉ាវនេះបានចាប់ផ្តើមនៅឆ្នាំ ១៩៤៧ នៅពេលដែលលោក Bob Pierce កំពុងធ្វើដំណើរនៅក្នុងប្រទេសចិន។ អំឡុងទស្សនកិច្ច គាត់បានជួបក្មេងស្រីដែលត្រូវបានគ្រួសារបោះបង់ចោល។ ដោយអារម្មណ៍រំជួលចិត្តចំពោះស្ថានភាពរបស់នាង គាត់បានផ្តល់ប្រាក់ ៥ ដុល្លារ ដែលជាលុយចុងក្រោយនៅក្នុងហោប៉ៅរបស់គាត់ទៅឱ្យអ្នកថែទាំនៅក្នុងស្រុកម្នាក់ ដើម្បីជួយថែទាំកុមារីនោះ។

ប៉ុន្មានឆ្នាំក្រោយមក នៅឆ្នាំ ១៩៥០ គាត់បានបង្កើតអង្គការទស្សនៈពិភពលោកអន្តរជាតិឡើង ដោយមានចក្ខុវិស័យដើម្បីកៀរគរមនុស្សនៅជុំវិញពិភពលោកជួយគាំទ្រដល់កុមារ និងគ្រួសារដែលខ្វះខាត។

Do you know who founded World Vision International and how it all began?

The story starts in 1947, when Bob Pierce was traveling in China. During his visit, he encountered an abandoned girl whose family could no longer care for her. Deeply moved by her situation, he gave the last $5 in his pocket to a local caregiver to help support the child.

Helping one child mattered, but there were many more children around the world facing poverty, hunger, and hardship. That moment stayed in his heart.

Just a few years later, in 1950, he founded World Vision International, with a vision to mobilize people around the world to care for children and families in need.

Over the decades, World Vision continued to respond where help was needed most—supporting communities through education, health and nutrition, clean water access, disaster response, and long-term community development. Today, World Vision works in nearly 100 countries, reaching millions of children and families each year.

As we celebrate 56 years of World Vision’s presence and impact in Cambodia, we reflect on the simple yet powerful beginning of this journey. A moment of compassion, a decision not to look away, and five dollars given to help one child became a lasting legacy that continues to bring hope to millions of children and families.

Siem Reap Province – Kralanh District​ World Vision International Cambodia collaborated with the Kralanh District Health Office, commune health centers, the Commune Women’s Affairs Coordinator, volunteer facilitators of the Grandmothers’ Inclusive Project, and village chiefs under the health centers to organize a reflection meeting on the implementation of the “Grandmothers’ Inclusive Project.” The meeting brought together grandmothers who look after their grandchildren under five years old, who have actively participated in the project’s monthly training sessions, along with their family members and community members. The aim was to promote better child nutrition in the community and learn more about the positive impacts of the project on children.

During the meeting, participants had the opportunity to share good practices and stories of change, including improved childcare practices, seeking maternal and child health services from health centers, and providing children with nutritious and diverse foods. The session also linked educational messages to grandmothers and community members on how to monitor children’s health and nutrition status.
