Vathanak Soeun attended the Capacity Building Training Workshop held on 15–16 September 2026 at the Crowne Plaza Vientiane, Lao PDR. Participating as the Executive Director of SD11, his engagement focused on leveraging high-integrity Nature-based Solutions (NbS) frameworks, spatial mapping tools, and regional financing pathways to scale forest, community and coastal climate resilience initiatives.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 & 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬

𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍 𝐍𝐛𝐒 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐕𝟑 𝐔𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Applied hands-on spatial data layers, site condition indicators, and Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) frameworks to map organizational project sites and build baseline data across climate, biodiversity, and community metrics.

𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧: Integrated core principles of Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) and Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) into early-stage feasibility assessments, Project Design Document (PDD) readiness, and governance models.

𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Analyzed multi-dimensional monitoring frameworks across biodiversity (focal species, occupancy, distance sampling), community resilience, and carbon stock tracking.

𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐍𝐛𝐒 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠: Engaged with early-stage NbS R&D financing models, including the UK–ASEAN Green Transition Fund framework, to bridge the transition from project piloting to investment-ready, bankable conservation projects.

𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 & 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬

𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠: Connected with key regional actors, including representatives from WRI Indonesia, the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), SCeNe Coalition, and the British Embassy Vientiane, to explore technical backstopping and joint Project Concept Clinics.
