🚨 Keep reporting to end dog and cat meat trade

A report submitted to the Cambodia Reporting Tool describes a long-running dog meat case in Phnom Penh. According to the report, several stalls have been selling dog meat in the area for years, with dogs reportedly slaughtered, grilled, and sold to customers. - Report KH-2026-07-11-220

😢 This is heartbreaking. Behind every plate of dog meat is an animal who may have suffered fear, pain, and cruelty. Dogs are companion animals. They trust humans, live beside us, and deserve protection - not to be killed and sold for meat.

🛑 This case reminds us that the dog meat trade can happen openly in our communities. It may appear as a small food stall or restaurant, but behind it is a cruel trade that harms animals and affects public compassion and safety.

🗣️ Reporter’s statement:
“In the centre of Siem Reap, Cambodia, on a busy road, I spotted a man on a motorbike carrying a large cage, with many pots and pans hanging from it. I believed he was a dog meat trader. I said ‘dogs’ in Khmer, but he shook his head. I looked inside the cage and there were no dogs at that moment, so there was not much I could do. I said ‘police’ and ‘illegal’ to him. He shook his head and drove away.

The cage appeared to be covered with paper, and the motorbike had no visible license plate number. I felt that he may have known what he was doing was wrong.”

💔 Siem Reap welcomes people from around the world. Foreign residents and international tourists should not have to witness the dog meat trade in Cambodia’s most important tourist destinations.

🐶 Dogs are companion animals. They deserve compassion and protection - not to be hunted, transported, or sold for meat.

🚨 Foreign Residents and Tourists Should Not Have to See This in Siem Reap 🐶💔

A report submitted to the Reporting Tool by a foreign resident describes seeing suspected dog meat traders around Siem Reap, near one of Cambodia’s most important tourist areas. - Report INT-2026-04-27-390

🗣️ Reporter’s statement:
“I used to live near Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, and I saw several dog meat traders in the area, usually in the morning. On one occasion, I was coming back from a walk with my 16 dogs when I saw one of them in front of my house.

In a panic, I quickly moved my dogs into the garden and confronted the dog meat trader. I shouted at him and said ‘police.’ He just smiled and seemed to think it was funny. There were no dogs in the cage at that moment, but he was still travelling around the back roads near Angkor Wat. I believe he was looking for dogs.”

💔 Siem Reap welcomes visitors from around the world. Foreign residents and international tourists should not have to witness fear, cruelty, or the dog meat trade in Cambodia. Dogs deserve protection, not to be hunted, transported, or sold for meat.

💔 Dogs Are Not Food - Report This Cruel Trade 🐶

🗣️ Reporter’s statement:
“I often come here for work, and I see dog meat being grilled almost every day. Literally every day, and on some days, up to two dogs have their heads cut off and are grilled in front of the stall. Please come and you will see it. If you come around 10:00 or 11:00 a.m., you may see whole dogs being grilled. If you come later than this, they may already have been chopped into smaller pieces. Please also protect my identity. Thank you.” - Report INT-2026-06-02-401
