Launch Event of Compedium's Report on in Law in
Today we celebrated the culmination of the Women in Law Project coordinated by CSHL and the Stanford Center for Human Rights and International Justice, as we launched the project's Compendium Report at the Sunway Hotel. The report combined the research efforts of the project participants as well as a policy report concerning recommendations for establishing female leaders in Cambodia, created by CSHL's Ngouv Muy Seo and the Stanford Centre's Daniel Mattes and K*m Somaly. We were honoured to hear a keynote speech from H.E Ms Tina S. Redshaw, the British Ambassador to Cambodia, and we are grateful for the generous support we have received for the project from the British Embassy in Phnom Penh.
There is significant room for improvement in terms of gender equity in Cambodia's legal structures and institutions. The Women in Law Project sought to address this by building a stronger gender focus for lawyers, with particular attention to professional development, mentoring, leadership, and networking, to establish the place of women in the legal sector for years to come. The project also established an online database of data and publications on the issue of gender equality in the law, which is accessible to the public. Visit womeninlaw-kh.org for more details.
Thanks to all those who attended the event, and best of luck to our outstanding women lawyers in the future!
