🎨 Welcome, Shanghai Chang!
Shanghai Chang joins Art for Kep for a one-month residency dedicated to exploring identity, movement, and cultural hybridity. Working across photography, film, mixed media, design, and conceptual fashion, he will draw inspiration from Kep's landscapes, communities, and cultural heritage to develop new creative works through a contemporary artistic lens. She arrived in Kep with her brushes and left with something she hadn’t planned: her first installation.
Alexandra Maul, a German expressive painter based in Cambodia, spent her residency at Knai Bang Chatt walking the shore before dawn, collecting earth from the countryside, mixing it with varnishes, pressing it into her canvases. No deadline. No brief. Just the sea, the light, and enough silence to hear herself think.
Her works were first shown at the Knai Bang Chatt wellness centre — then travelled to Phnom Penh, where “Tides Between Worlds: Urban Currents” was presented at Meta House on 26 May.
