Children´s Future International (CFI) was founded in 2009 by Jenny Ciucci and Andrew Wolff to be a community-based organization to promote children's rights and uphold the dignity of the most vulnerable in rural areas of Battambang Province, Cambodia. CFI envisions a future where every child in Cambodia is safe, healthy, educated, thriving and happy. It´s mission is to improve the lives of vulnera

ble, marginalized and at-risk children in Battambang province by providing access to quality education; promoting child rights; ensuring physical safety, health and wellness; inspiring children and young adults to act as positive role models within their communities; fostering self-reliance among families and communities while sharing joy together. Today, CFI serves over 400 at-risk children, youth, and their families through four main program areas: social work services to ensure the basic needs and safety of families, supplementary education in the learning center to support children with their studies, education advocacy to keep them in school and special projects to provide additional youth empowerment opportunities. The Next Generation Initiative (NGI) workshop at public schools!

NGI is a specialized program dedicated to helping young people develop the essential life skills they need for a successful future.
We believe that by teaching these core values early, we can help students become well-rounded individuals who are prepared to navigate the challenges of adulthood.

Recently, CFI staff hosted an engaging workshop for 15 students in grades 7 and 8 at Bak Orm Reak High School.

Through interactive games and positive encouragement, the students gained valuable tools for personal growth in an enjoyable learning environment.

We are proud to support these young learners as they develop the confidence and skills needed to achieve their goals.

Child Protection and Safeguarding!

At CFI, we want to make sure children are safe from both external threats as well as from ourselves. That’s why we recently held workshops to remind all families that receive support from CFI about our Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH) Policy and child protection principles.

Children and families learned about children’s rights and the risks of violence, abuse, and exploitation in all forms. This way, families have a better understanding of how to identify risks, respond appropriately, and report cases in order to prevent and stop all forms of violence and abuse, as well as learn problem-solving approaches to ensure the safety of children and families in a timely manner.

We are truly happy to see children and families actively participating, sharing their ideas and experiences with one another, and gaining valuable knowledge from this workshop.

Learning to float can save lives!

As an exciting end to our swimming program, funded by the Phillips Foundation, CFI had the pleasure of hosting fellow grant partner to Survive, who came to teach their life-saving techniques.

91 students and 31 adults learned different floating positions that keep your mouth and head above water while using gentle movements that conserve energy. It was incredible to see the progress in just one afternoon, and we hope these lessons can save lives within the community.

A big thanks to everyone involved with this vital program!

HR Policy Update for the CFI Team

At CFI, we believe that a positive working environment better allows us to support children and their families. By modeling CFI values and having clear policies and procedures to guide our work, we can ensure a level of professionalism to be accountable to both donors and the community we serve.

This year, the HR training reviewed the HR policy, annual performance review template, new merit bonus template, leave tracking system, the resource folder for staff, and the annual staff satisfaction survey. The training was also a great opportunity for our team to ask questions about their rights, benefits, and working conditions.

A big thank you to our HR Officer for organizing this important session for our staff!

CFI's Education Advocacy (EA) team visits students at public schools!

Some students live too far away from CFI to come to the center daily, but we want to make sure they can still get the education they need in public school. One way to help them succeed is by monitoring their attendance and performance.

By visiting the public schools, our EA team has the opportunity to meet with both students and teachers, allowing us to identify when there are challenges that may prevent students from getting a good education. Students are able to share their challenges with their peers and EA staff, while teachers can share about performance or attendance issues.

We hope that this collaboration helps keep students in school and resolve problems before they become more challenging to overcome.

Building Trust and Supporting Families

Regular home visits are a very important part of our work at CFI. These visits help our social workers build strong, trusting relationships with families. By visiting them at home, we can better understand their lives and make sure the children are safe and healthy.

During a recent visit, our team met with a family to see how the children are doing. We talked about their progress and discussed any challenges they might be facing. This helps us decide exactly how CFI can best support them.

Future Goals in Public Schools!

In many rural areas of Battambang, children grow up with limited ideas about what their future could look like. That’s where our Future Goals workshops come in!

This powerful program is all about opening minds and broadening horizons. It helps children discover new and exciting career paths they might never have imagined as well as showing them how to take the first steps toward making those dreams a reality. From vision to action, we guide them through setting personal goals and creating plans to reach them.

Recently, we brought Future Goals to 35 students in 5th and 6th grade at Somornos Primary School. Through fun games, interactive activities, and lots of encouragement, every student walked away with their very own personalized future plan.

A big thank you to Basaid for supporting this important initiative and helping us empower young children in rural schools to dream bigger and aim higher!
